Hadrian's wall was built to protect the Romans/English from the 'barbarians' north of the border.
Now that Scotland has banned the smacking of children under three and, more recently, the barbarous pursuit of wild animals with dogs it's beginning to look rather as if those south of the border are the ones to avoid!
Good on you Scotland - leading the world in legislating against violence!
