Peacewatchers at USAFs witnessing warheads overhead Scotland

Since Saturday, people in the Highlands of Scotland have been

Since Saturday, people in the Highlands of Scotland have been
witnessing large movements of US warplanes overhead.
Experienced observers say the large numbers are reminiscent
of those that preceded the bombing of Iraq in 1998 and military
strikes on Libya in the1980's as well as the first Gulf War.

At the weekend warplanes were flying over at a rate of roughly
one every 15 minutes. As well as watching them from the ground
the plane spotters have also been able to overhear pilots talking
by listening to their radio frequencies.

At this rate some 288 warplanes would have passed over Scotland
in three days.

It is thought that the planes have flown on a route from the US
over the north pole to bases in Europe and the Mediterranean.
The size and scale of the movement suggests that the US may
be preparing to strike at a country in the Middle East in the
next week to ten days.

Please pass this information on as widely as possible-the US may
be planning to use the pretext of "foreign" terrorist attacks on
US personnel in Iraq to attack Iran or Syria. Please alert any
sympathetic elected representatives, media representatives and
other sympathetic organisations. Publicising this military
movement may prevent the air-strikes.

That could be timed for Bush and Blair's little meet in London.....

This is to do with the NATO summit in scotland

06.11.2003 22:26

The large number of planes in scotland is more than likely due to the NATO summit been held there this week.

Delegators from Russia, and senior american and Nato ministers are meeting there, with increased security in the Area.

I know that RAF teams across the UK have headed to scotland to help beef up security at the meeting, and that the planes are part of a show of force, If the planes are not there next week, then this is more than likely the cause in the upsurge of flights.

I don't see why an increase in US warplanes in the Highlands would in any way be able to "beef up" security in Edinburgh which is a good way away even to someone in a warplane. Still, what the fuck do I know about such matters?

I've just come back from the US, flying Icelandair. My outbound flight was delayed by 1 1/2 hours on 24 october due to 'weather delays' - the day of the first really active solar storm. I met a woman whose flight was rerouted to Labrador for 'refuelling' on 5 Noveber, the day after the next severe solar storm. I'm not denying there may have been big USAF build-ups, but many North Atlantic flights (as well as North Asian) flights were messed up in the last two weeks. As for planes to protect Bush's visit, well, we saw how useful air precautions were pre-Sept. 11...

Thanks to everyone who has been responding to the newsflash from local people about aircraft movements over the Scottish Highlands between Saturday 25th - Tuesday 28th October. We've had a lot of response and general information from activists in the US, as well as elsewhere, adding to the picture. Some more of the detail that has come from the Highlands tells us that the aircraft involved were probably C5 Galaxy Transporters. These are enormous transport aircraft, which can be used in the large-scale movement of troops and/or equipment. We are continuing to investigate and monitor and all information is welcome.
