Don't Deport Mohammad Ud Din!

michael c | 16.04.2004 08:39 | Migration

Ud Din is a 62 year old Pakistani man being held in Dungavel Detention Centre despite being in poor health.

Ud faces deportation to Pakistan from where he fled in 2002 following years of religious persecution from the state authorities and fundamentalist religious groups within the community.

Don't Deport Mohammad Ud Din!

Ud Din is a follower of the minority Ahmadi faith, and its adherents have suffered ongoing persecution. In 1974 there were anti-Ahmadiyya attacks on these religious communities throughout Pakistan. In 2000 five people were killed and seven injured when an Ahmadi prayer meeting was fired on. Violence against Ahmadi is rife throughout Pakistan. For the latest information on the persecution of Ahmadi Muslims go to:
 http://www.thepersecution.org

Ud Din's family shop was burned and he was beaten. The police offered no protection. Ud Din used to preach to friends and when one of them converted to the Ahmadi faith, he was attacked and threatened that he would be killed.
When he reported the death threat to the police, they abused and detained him and offered no protection whatsoever from his persecutors.

Ud Din's family have lived in the Glasgow area for three years. All he asks is to be allowed to remain in safety with his family and friends.
