Nuclear bomb convoy on the road

Nukewatch | 06.05.2005 22:43 | Anti-militarism

This is an urgent message.

A nuclear warhead convoy left it's base in England at 10pm this evening (Friday). We think it is carrying a full load of Trident nuclear warheads for the submarines based at Faslane. It's expected to arrive at the Coulport depot, on the Clyde in Scotland, some time tomorrow - Saturday 7th May.

If you see it please phone one of the numbers below. The convoys are very distinctive. Pictures of it can be seen at  http://www.scotland.indymedia.org/newswire/display/848/index.php or  http://www.tridentploughshares.org/prel/prel04/r040509.php

We think the convoy delayed travelling to avoid any political embarrassment for the government before the election.

Three days ago Tony Blair said he supported a replacement for the Trident nuclear weapons based at Faslane despite an opinion poll showing that 78% of Scots opposed it.

We will be trying to follow the convoy as it travels overnight and protests are being organised. If you would like to join us please contact:
