Bloc Aid - 01/07/05 - 9pm-3am

An eclectic mix of musicians coming together to raise support and funds for activists and campaigners uniting in Edinburgh for the G8. From techno-house to raging punk, this night will invigorate and inspire the following week of action.

Bloc Aid is being held at Teviot (Bristo Square, Edinburgh) with a 1,500 capacity over 3 different floors, with each floor bearing its own theme. In the basement will be dark, fierce punk bands Conflict, Tin Pot Operation, Kilnaboy and The Happy Spastics. The middle floor features Edinburgh University's very own Indie Society DJ's spinning an assorment of your favourite indie tunes. The top floor is the icing on the cake with a sweet rush of techno and house DJs Bruno F-K, Dave Myers, and Stuart Munro.

Bloc Aid is on Friday 1st of July, starting at 9pm and runs until 3am. Tickets are £5 and will be available on the door only, they are expected to sell fast so arrive early to avoid disappointment. Fliers for the night can be seen online at  http://www.satyr.demon.co.uk/rebels.jpg

Bloc Aid is organised by a collaboration of groups, including People & Planet  http://www.peopleandplanet.org, a national student network that campaigns for social and environmental justice, and Dissent!  http://www.dissent.org.uk/ an international network of resistance, to create a fantastic night to welcome all those coming to Edinburgh in order to make their voice heard at the Make Poverty History march and numerous other events running throughout the week.
