Brazil: prior censorship against Paraná State's governor is absolutely reprehensible.

The president of the National Federation of Journalists (Fenaj), Sergio Murillo de Andrade, ranked as "absolutely reprehensible" the court decision that establishes prior censorship in Radio and Television Paraná Educativa.

"The decision of Magistrate Lippmann Edgar Junior is absolutely reprehensible. This is a case of prior censorship, something that Fenaj condemns totally, "he said".

"The right to free expression of thought is provided by Brazilian Constitution. To prevent previously the manifestations of the governor of Parana State, Roberto Requião, or any other person is an absurdity that must be condemned. With such decisions, the Judiciary is gradually introducing censorship in Brazil, "he added".

The decision of the federal Magistrate Edgar Lippmann Junior prohibits Paraná's RTVE of serving the opinion of the governor Roberto Requião during its programming, which includes the transmission of the live weekly meeting of the School of Government.

Requião said that he expects the reaction of society against judicial decision and so the manifestations of all entities of class, of all the media, trade unions, journalists, of OAB, of Brazilian Association of Press, against the establishment of prior censorship in Parana. We're back to the Institutional Act 5 and to the darkness of dictatorship, "he said.
