Stuck out at EDO

Stixie Resistance Front | 21.05.2005 09:05 | Anti-militarism | Repression | London | South Coast

Workers at Brighton arms dealers EDO/MBM had a sticky reception as they arrived at work on Friday morning. Some local stixies had paid them a visit in the night making sure there would be no easy entry for the warmongers in the morning by glueing all the locks.

The sheepish staff had a chance to reflect on the consequences of their warmongering activites to the people of places like Iraq and Palestine where their bomb release mechanisms inflict death and destruction on the civilian population.
The stick-em-out stixies managed to circumvent the newly installed high-tec security barrier at fortress EDO by...er... walking through the open gate. Nice one Guardian... I'm sure you're insurers would appreciate your negligence!
A stixie spokesie vowed 'not to let open gates get in the way of good old-fashioned honest stixie fun. We will be getting stuck in until EDO are stuck out for good'.
No EDO spokesscum was available for comment.

When you are carrying out these actions have you considered what kind of Britain we would live in without those who manufacture defence equipment ?

The Spitfire and Churchill tank that defeated Hitler were made by the defence industry. The Armalite rifle and Jaguar fighter that prevented a Soviet invasion were manufactured by the defence industry.

For you this is a bit of fun until you leave University and have to get jobs, for others this is their life

yes ...

21.05.2005 13:09

because the people of fallujah were just massing at the borders ready to come and desecrate our green and pleasant land. For fucks sake people use 'but what about hitler' as an answer to pretty much everything. These weapons are not being used for defence, thats pretty obvious to the majority of people.

Just how is a paveway bomb used defensivly by the way? Only think I can think of is to target invaders positions, but the MoD see no chance of a conventional military attack on the UK mainland this is irrelevant. The MoD instead state the military exists for 'force projection' to 'back up political objectives' and to 'protect our interests overseas'. Its called imperialism, which is exactly what you're claiming these weapons prevent (hitler, soviet union)!

War is peace.
Ignorance is strength.
freedom is slavery.

EDO shut-down anniversairy

22.05.2005 11:20

Coming on the anniversary of the road blockade and roof-top protest which shut EDO down for the day last year this lock-out must have brought back some pleasant memories for those at EDO who have stuck around since then. Shame the weather wasn't as nice this year. Don't worry arms dealers you'll get a day off agin soon and maybe it'll be sunny.
In the meantime see you at the noise demo next Thursday.

EDO share price drops like a bomb

22.05.2005 12:02

EDO corp's share price dropped to below $28 dollars on friday losing the company and its directors over 2 million dollars. This wipes out the companies profits from the last six months.

You can watch EDO go down by doing a google search on 'EDO'.
 http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=EDO&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

There is also a usefull message board where you can discuss EDOs attack on fundamental freedoms with its capitalist investors. Maybe they are starting to get the message.

Analyse this!

24.05.2005 15:54

Analyst - Before you get too carried away you should go back to your text books (if you ever had any) and read up on the difference between the Market Capitalisation of a company, and its profit or loss.
Once again you're getting mixed up in things you don't understand, perhaps you've been sniffing too much of that glue you've been using.

How Could You!

24.05.2005 16:37

How could you stop us getting into work! i had to go home, and watch TV!

In fact, it was better that helping build those horrible bomb racks, release clips and arming mechanisms that kill innocent people!

Keep It Up Guys!

I want more days at home!

The Pixies are making a difference

24.05.2005 21:02

So 'Analyst' is rejoicing at an EDO stock price of $28.

Since it was recently the anniversary of the start of protestor action at EDO MBM, I thought it might be interesting to look at the stock price one year ago. Guess what - it was then less than $22 !! So thats 1-year of pixie action, and over 27% increase on the stock ! Yes, you guys really are making a difference - keep it up.

I guess you're trying to shut EDO down by forcing them to retire as millionaires.

wish i'd bought EDO stock !

Still only peacefully protesting eh???

25.05.2005 13:32

You condone criminal damage, even brag about it, then you moan like babies that the nasty EDO have the cheek to take you to court, it would never have come to this if the protests had been peaceful and you hadn't resorted to these puerile tactics, oh, but of course, it's not Smash Edo, it's the pixies, well if that doesn't sum the lot of you up nothing ever will! Try rolling off your bean bags and getting a job in the real world!

Not a pixie

Ignorance is Bliss (EDO Company Moto)

26.05.2005 18:01

You proEDO types really are precious. Do you really think any of the people who stand outside EDO week after week would be stupid enough cause any of the criminal damage? And what difference would the injunction make to those who are already prepared to break the law and cause this damage. Nobody believes you when you accuse peaceful and law abiding people. I have no idea who it is but I'm sure they wouldn't make themselves known to you by standing outside your factory each week or speaking to the press.

But we all know it's in EDO's interest to assosiate any damage with the weekly protests.

And wasn't printing names on the Internet against the terms of the injunction? Tut tut.

You guys really aren't very bright are you.

As for the criminal damage and murder you cause, maybe we can discuss that...

Peaceful Protester

What cloud cukoo land did you fly in from?

27.05.2005 07:06

Now who's being stupid. If Peaceful Protestor thinks that the criminal damage is purely co-incidental, and nothing to do with the incitement to violence caused by SMASH (!!!!) EDO, well that just about sums up these rose spectacled morons. Oh yes, I'm sure the Smash EDO 'generals' keep their own hands clean, plenty of lesser mortals not blessed in the brain cell department to do their dirty work.

Non Smasher

Catch 22

27.05.2005 10:48

The fact is this criminal damage would happen if we protest or not. It is not, I repeat not orchestrated by people who protest up there. If EDO really gave a damn about the vandalism they could build a proper security fence and employ 24 hr security. We'd then all be happy as you'd get no vandalism and we wouldn't get blamed for it.

The fact is the vandalism is in EDO's favour as they can then clamp down on the protests which is what really annoys them. But to do this they must constantly claim that it is the protestors who do it. Smash EDO is not a coordinated campaign group in any sense but just by demonstating outside the factory innocent people get labeled as thugs and vandals. But then these techniques have been used repeatedly to clamp down on protest.

Why should we stop protesting just because some unknown people break the law. If we stopped demonstrating I don't think the vandalism would stop and if it didn't I'm sure that's when proper security would be put in place as there would be nothing for EDO to gain by letting it happen. Vandalism doesn't cause staffing problems but I'm sure the demos have caused a few people to examine their consciences and get a proper job.

Joseph Heller

You're dammed if you do and you're blamed if you don't !

27.05.2005 12:57

Sorry ... I can't type straight through laughing too much at Joseph Heller's posting. You know, if I didn't know better i'd almost believe that he really thinks the violence and damage is totally independent !

MBM has been around over 50 years in Brighton, then all of a sudden we have the attention of Smash EDO and the criminal damage starts !! Wow - now if we could patent an improbability drive.......
