100 wild boar liberated

In an action covered by BBC News and the Western Daily Press, our ALF group liberated 100 wild boar from a meat farm just outside Molland, near Barstable in North Devon, at 2:00am, on Thusday December 22nd 2005.

This was the second time the Animal Liberation Front has targeted the farm and released the boar to a new life of freedom. The farmer, Alan Dedames has stated that 500 metres of fencing was cut down and all of "his" boar escaped.

Mr Dedames, with the help of local police, spent hours attempting to round up the boar but only managed to re-capture a handfull, the others are said to of bolted and scatered, wreaking havoc around the countrside!

Its idiots like ALF which jeoperdise the native wildlife of this country, mink released by these twats are decimating the water vole population, if u gotta protest then not like this, god knows what wild bore will do to the countryside.

james

not equivocable with mink

24.12.2005 17:45

Mink ain't native ( and perhaps should have been returne to their natural habitat in North America ). Boars are native to this country and have already been reintoroiduced in places such as Kent - so your argument is fallacious and your tone a bit tabloid ( or New Gruaniad ) young man.

There is a possibilty that the increasing otter population might help to keep down the numbers of these aggressive little critters; The mink population has declined in some areas of Southern England ( and out of control in others)where we have sen an increase in otter population though there may be other factors.

Anyway here's a nice link...

Unlike mink, weren't wild boar indigenous to the UK before being hunted to extinction? Surely their retunr to the wild will actually be helping to restore the natural balance???

James - get real

24.12.2005 18:06

Wild boar were natives of this country for thousand of years and were only wiped out due to human intervention (all usual). The mink were introduced into this country by humans and you although the ALF have released many hundreds of mink from fur farms it is also a fact that mink have been excaping from these farms for decades and breeding in the wild. Finally, the British countryside is hardly a natural wilderness these days and frankly it is not the ALF and a few releases that have fucked it up.

whoever did it... nice one!

Before any control freak replies

24.12.2005 19:04

They ( Boar) can be aggresive and are pretty fast. ( like humans ) Some have been known to chase livestock - but then thats FUCK ALL compared with what the meat industry does to livestock.

They have been known to cause crop damage - but a lot of things damage the countryside ( planet -wide) - pesticides, cash-crop-culture, motorways, large corporations, rich fucking landowners and the consumer nation state.

We can live and work with nature or die like fat sweaty shoppers.

Rhinos next?

Boar are indeed aggressive and violent. They could kill a child.

This is a most irresponsible act ALF. What were you thinking?

Boxing day Shoot

24.12.2005 22:15

Around 70 registered marksmen and game keepers are set to descend on North Devon in the first wild boar shoot for over 200 years, the marksmen have been called in by local farmers over fears that as many as 75 of the creatures are roaming free in the countryside following action by animal rights protesters, the boar are said to be easy targets for practice marksmen who will be using special ammunition to destroy the wild boar which were hunted to extinction in the late 1800's with the last one reputedly shot by John of Gaunt near Pontefract.
Boars were traditionally hunted because they were rumoured to attack children.

the lure of the wild

26.12.2005 11:07

Great action by the ALF!! Lets release ALL the animals and go free-range ourselves! The time for realignment of our society away from factory farming/supermarket blandness and towards the rediscovery of our spirit is here - now! Only hunting with spears allowed! That way the meat-eater loses that corporate flab, improves muscle tone and stamina etc

freddie

Well done, you cretins

26.12.2005 13:28

Fact 1: The farmer targeted kept wild boar in permanent family groups, under good conditions, in semi-natural woodland enclosures. A pretty good example of what enlightened livestock farming should be, in short.

So you picked the wrong target. (Presumably you couldn't be bothered to find a factory farm.)

Fact 2: Most of the boars will now end up dead. Shot cleanly with any luck, but dead. Some may be darted and trapped, but with the numbers involved the Police won't be taking any chances. (Some will inevitably be injured and before dying painfully somewhere will be very pissed off indeed. With any luck it'll be an ALF goon who stumbles over an injured 200lb boar in a covert, and not an innocent dog walker)

So their 'new life of freedom' will be short and stressful.

Fact 3: Many of the breeding sows will be in pig at this time of year, and/or with young at foot, so they'll be particularly nervous and/or defensive. As they'll be kept on the move most or all of these young will be miscarried, lost (& therefore starved to death) or killed by other stressed boars.

So you'll probably have killed more animals than you thought.

Fact 4: This was a monumentally stupid stunt that will cause only suffering to the boars.

Don't you people have functioning brains ?

Richard

Irresponsible.

26.12.2005 20:41

Needless to say the ALF, like most animal lib organisations have very little understanding of the environment.

Yes, boar were once indigenous but now they have released full grown adults immediately into the wild, great idea guys.

I live in Sussex and my little girl was attacked and killed by a boar, this is not however my reason for this reply. That was simply a wrong place and wrong time event.

However, these animals are incredibly dangerous and should be contained.

The ALF is the most ridiculous organisation around.
Animal liberation is simply a fin de siecle joke.

Wild Boars Dangerous child killers and (i forgot) earth destroyers?

28.12.2005 11:41

You people are hysterical tabloid BBC Embodyers- over 900million mammals and birds(most in confinement buildings) are slaughtered and killed every year by this civiliseless society, the individual mammals that were freed from domination and imminent death are more actively gentle than all this domineer loving pretenced civilisation who on one hand say they kill children and are dangerous(implying you hate violence) while accepting the violence done to them by enslaving government subsided castraters.

Mick

the ALF strikes again!

30.12.2005 12:51

It's about time that wild boar are introduced back to the british countryside! All the time, animals are being reintroduced to areas where they were wiped out... the ALF is simply doing it for free!
Those animals deserve freedom, sure some may be captured and killed - that is inevitable, however atleast some will hopefully escape... If left in captivity they will face one end - death - not even having a chance.
We cannot allow animals to be wiped out simply because they may be dangerous - imagine the catastrophe that would happen, we'd almost have no animals.
I live in france, where we have wild boar and they are a pleasant addition to our country. They have never showed acts of danger to us, sure they come into our garden to root out vegetables but if we go down, they run away!
The ALF are intelligent, they are the ones who risk their freedom doing what is right. 100 wild boar will never devistate the UK... even if they did manage to repopulate the country... They would be a bonus to the land, turning the soil etc...
That's the way it should be!

ALF Prats

04.01.2006 12:59

These Boar are not wild they are semi-domesticated. This (to you knuckle dragging ALF wallys)means they do not have the same fear of man that wild ones have. This means ( am I going slowly enought for you ALF) that they are more likly to encounter humans than wild ones and may do so seeking to be fed. They are still however large and powerful animals and should they panic or be frightened by nearby humans they are a very real danger. This act of releasing them was an act of stupidity of the highest order, if someone gets killed or injured due to your actions they its on your head.
Here is a simple question to you ALF supporters. I you belive that animals arer exploited by man and that all animals are equal, why oh why do you target farmed wild boar and deer to liberate rather than pigs and sheep??

ALF now nothing about what animals want and need, they just think they know and are stupid enought to act on their emotions rather than thinking things through. You guys are pathetic.

Peter

The ALF on Indymedia

05.01.2006 13:33

Surely the most interesting thing about this post is an ALF action copied from Bite Back and posted on Indymedia. Yes, no?

Will this become a regular feature?

Twats

05.01.2006 14:45

Well done guys. A few more animals killed so you can make a point. Why dont you go threaten some scientists or child minders or something?? The cruelty you inflict on animals and people alike is sickening. I am no fan of the meat or animal experimentation industries but you guys do nothing but turn anyone who gives a shit into loonies. Im sure your hearts are in the right place but you got to think of the harm your doing animals in the process.

John Locke

John Locke and Peter -twats are us

05.01.2006 19:53

You plonkers verbally spout about cruelty and violence in order to ridiculingly demonize and implicitly promote the slaughterhouse and other blood spilling humanist enterprises and selfishly think your on the high moral ground-the gendered individual mammals have been freed and have a chance at physical freedom beyond branding, castration, domination, the same people who abuse and kill them in the slaughterhouse are the same ones looking to kill them now(but they will be called the community) but the ALF have offended the human supremist identities and have angered the personaled arragonce of john locke and peter from having there speciesist furfillment(bad boys and girls) .

The ALF have rescued and freed other individual mammals and birds from confinement, abuse and penciled in- death, the only destroyer of the envioronment is US-self proclaimed Humanity or unhumanity but that is called DEVELOPMENT.

It is interesting how verbal ponces and visual invisibles like Locke and peter obediently obsorb uncritically whatever the mainstream newspaper and tv media present to them and accept the anthprocentric opinion intellectually impyled as fact.

Feral Hogs

11.01.2006 16:08

This is most entertaining. These ALF folks decide to allow Wilbur et al to "escape". As they are not currently afforded Game animal status, they can be shot, and most certainly will. If the shooters are smart, these "escapees" will end up where they were headed anyway...as pies and chops! Sorry you bunny-huggers still don't get it. Even a poorly shot game animal dies much faster than one killed by it's normal predators. Animals killed by predators are rarely utilized as completely as one purpose raised or hunted. You can go vegan all you want, but consumption of meat is a characteristic of predator species. Like most omnivores, we can eat vegetable matter, but it's rarely exclusive. If it were, we'd still have herds of bears who CHOOSE sprouts over salmon, even though they will eat greenery to survive in the absense of prefered foods. Those of us who hunt and eat meat are a CULTURE, and are no less deserving of our right to pursue our desired way of life than you are. We are afforded all the same legal protections as any other culture. You may not LIKE this, but you have no more right to try an eliminate our culture than we have to force you to eat meat. Wild pork is wonderful tablefare, and will always be a feature on my menu. As to the indigenous/invasive argument, it is totally foolish. velociraptors might have been native here once, but re-introducing them with no thought for the safety and integrity of EXISTING species is both eliteist and short sighted. Spend a bit of time researching the impact of thriving feral hog populations in the US, and you'll see what is bound to happen in the UK if this group drops a few litters and gets established. these are smart, shy, adaptable animals, and if they get a solid foothold, you'll never hunt them out. See, the UK culture that eradicated them before is now ALSO almost extinct. Happily, this event could cause a revival.

Pig farmer gets his pork pie

15.02.2006 08:44

This is brilliant - I don't care about the pig/ALF issues.

The owner of this farm is a cn*t, he deserves what has happend to him and I laugh my f*cking head off every time this story re-appears and he bleats on about his business in ruins.... ha f*cking ha.....

Alan Dedames if you read this - you got what you deserve you cn*t - hope you get some more too - 10:10 with love and kisses to the ALF for delivering divine retribution.

People who release boar are fools!
Have they any idea the damage boar can do? If they had they would not release them. Boar destroy everything! I have photos to prove it. Walls, paths, grass, trees and hedgrows all TOTALLY and utterly destroyed.
Only the ignorant would release boar.
Get wise please
