Bliar Views The World Through A Mirror

Jordan Thornton | 11.04.2004 15:33 | Repression | World

A contributor at the Vancouver site posted this comment, and I thought it should be viewed here.

'What exactly is the nature of the battle inside Iraq itself?' the prime minister [of the UK] said. 'This is not a civil war though the purpose of the terrorism [by the US and UK, supported by Israel] is undoubtedly to try and provoke one.'

He said that Iraq was now divided. 'On the one side, terrorist fanatics and remnants of a brutal dictatorship who murdered hundreds of thousands of their own people and enslaved the rest [the US invaders]. On the other side, people of immense courage and humanity who dare to believe that basic human rights and liberty are not alien to Arab and Middle Eastern culture [the people of Iraq, and their supporters from neighbouring countries].'

In his weekly radio address to the nation, Bush also revealed his unwillingness to change tack. The president promised further military and financial support to Iraq after the initial handover of power and through the country's election pencilled in for the end of 2005.

'Our decisive actions will continue until these enemies of [American style fake ] democracy [actually American imperialism and a plutocratic government of occupation] are dealt with,' Bush said. '[Guerrillas] [actually, Iraqi patriots] want to dictate the course of events in Iraq and to prevent [ you should say 'facilitate"] the Iraqi people from having a true voice in their future. The enemies of freedom [the the UK and US invaders, whose invasion of Iraq is in flagrant violation of international law, and was weak rationale was based on deliberate gross deception] will fail. Iraqi sovereignty will arrive on June 30.'

[let's hope so]

The US / UK Invasion of Iraq ‘act of aggression’ under international law

 http://www.brusselstribunal.org

The invasion and occupation of Iraq by the United States and the United Kingdom are a major violation of international law and of the UN Charter. It is extremely important for the future of the planet to resist the tendency to present the current situation as normal, which is exactly what is happening and what the Bush administration is trying to do.

Questioning the New Imperial World Order

A Hearing on the Project for the New American Century ( PNAC) and its war policies put into effect under the Bush administration by the invasion of Iraq

Synopsis

The Brussels Tribunal will be a hearing or a commission of inquiry composed of academics, intellectuals and artists in the tradition of the Russell Tribunal, set up in 1967 to investigate war crimes committed during the Vietnam War. The hearing is scheduled for 15-17th April 2004 at The Beursschouwbug and Les Halles in Brussels. It will be presided by Professor François Houtart, one of the founding fathers of the World Social Forum in Porto Allegre. It is directed against the war in Iraq and the Imperial war policies of the Bush II administration. Its main focus will be the ‘Project for the New American Century’, the think tank behind this war, in particular three of the co-signatories of the mission statement: Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney and Paul Wolfowitz, as they are the physical link between the discourse and the brutal practice of the New Imperial World Order as designed by PNAC.
