SOCIAL JUSTICE INSTEAD OF HARTZ IV –
WE HAVE ALTERNATIVES!

By against social cuts

[A massive nationwide Monday demonstration is planned for October 2, 2004. This announcement is translated from the German on the World Wide Web,  http://www.zweiter-oktober.de/.]

Millions of jobs are missing in Germany. Many kindergartens, schools and universities are in miserable condition. Youth clubs and cultural institutions lack financial resources. 756,000 millionaires with 2.9 trillion Euro own more than 70 percent of the financial assets. On the other hand, over 50% of households have only 5%. The social rifts in society will be even deeper with Hartz IV. The disposable income of low earners, unemployed, pensioners and students will be reduced again. Children, women and migrants will be hit very hard. This unsocial policy of redistribution from bottom to the top is pursued by the government and the mainstream parties to assure extra-profits for the mammoth corporations in the global competition. No new jobs will be created. Rather the purchasing power will break down even more and the economic crisis will accelerate. This policy foments anxiety and uncertainty and strengthens racists and neo-nazis.

END THE NEOLIBERAL POLICY OF THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT AND MAINSTREAM PARTIES!

ANOTHER POLICY IS POSSIBLE.

We support:

· Withdrawal of the Hartz IV legislation
· Standard- and minimum wages instead of low-wage and poverty work
· Dignified basic income without discriminatory tests of neediness and work coercion
· Reduced working hours instead of longer working hours and longer lifetime work
· 60 billion Euro immediately for jobs with dignified wages in health care, education, social services, culture, the environment and public transportation instead of work coercion at 1 Euro
· Proper taxation of large conglomerates, corporations and owners of enormous assets
· Equal rights for all persons living here instead of Fortress Europe

The border runs between top and bottom, not between East and West or between nations.

We champion:

Social security and justice in Europe and worldwide.
