BBC misleads world over US opinion polls

Phil Toms (Auckland, NZ) | 04.10.2004 21:23 | Analysis | Globalisation | Repression | London | World

BBC world service radio ignores polls, claims Bush ahead while mainstream polls show dead heat.

Along with half the world I was very keen to hear what effect John Kerry's pasting of George Bush in the debate weould have on voter opinion. After listening for thee days to the deafening silence about this on BBC world service radio I emailed them complaining about their total lack of comment. Today I awoke (in Auckland) to hear them briefly claim Bush is leading without mentioning by how much or how little. The two major US polls since the debate both show a dead heat or Kerry marginally ahead. (see the link)>.
I believe their misleading the world in this way is deliberate, as it seems implausible that they could be so incompetent. I also feel that this scandal will not stand the light of day and enough correspondence may cause the offending deceiver to be sacked, or at least force them to report the truth.I believe this encouraging news is badly needed by a despairing world.
