From CHINA- The radical Palestinian group Hamas claims that the US has been negotiating with them. Foreign investment in China is around $60 billion a year, with 500,000 foreign enterprises established there. N Korea demands that S Korea's nuclear activities be considered in the denuclearization of the Korean penisula.
From NETHERLANDS- The recent failure of a test of the US "son of Star Wars project" is critiqued by an arms expert. In Venezuela, Hugo Chavez is changing the makeup of the Supreme Court, leading to a walkout by conservative politicians in Congress.
From CUBA- 10 years ago Hugo Chavez was received as head of state by Fidel Castro in Cuba, and they announced that the 21st century would see the rise of the Americas as Chavez explained his plans for Venezuela. Iraq's defense minister has accused Iran of organizing attacks against his country.
From SPAIN- Spain's prime minister Zapatero accused his predecessor Azanar of intentionally deceiving the public about who launched the Madrid train bombings just before the March elections.
From RUSSIA- Outgoing Sec of State Powell has urged NATO members to forget past differences about the invasion of Iraq, and to help out with troops needed before the so-called "democratic elections." In Toronto a former US Marine is testifying that US soldiers are killing Iraqi civilians who pose no threat.
