OCCUPIED SPACE: 120 (PARTY THIS FRIDAY..)

OCCUPIED SPACE: 120 | 24.07.2006 17:04 | Free Spaces | Sheffield

Our name comes from 120 bands that played at 111 Matilda Street, formaly known as Matilda, now under occupation of Yorkshire Foroword.. We have taken some time in getting this space open, 120 also comes from the fact of 120 people killed in Iraq on the day we occupied the space.

Due to us getting shit done we was unable to be at the demo  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/sheffield/2006/07/345746.html on Saturday in support of those in palestine and lebanon so we are asking for 2 pounds of your dosh and it will be a 70/30 split 30 going to OS.120 as we will no doubt will become known but we are happy with this..

So how do we find you and bring our mates, well you ring 0781 657 2505 from 7pm friday there will be a voice message of some kind but we are told if you goto Jacks on Division Street they can help like wise our very good mates at Rare and Racy is there any thing we need to know erm not for now but we hope to see on Friday..

Take Care

Why should we give money when 30% is appropriated to the "OS: 120" group to pissup? Who are they ? Can anybody join ? Do they meat regulary ? Organise non heirarchicaly ? Do they have some open and public aims and objectives ? Or is this just a private members club with a bit more radical chic than gatecrasher ?

Free and autonomous spaces are cool - is this a free space?

The lebanese and palestinian groups are good causes. But thats no need to piggy back publicity on them, if you are just scamming.

Fair question but...

are you just trying to stir trouble in a public forum?

What they are describing is normal policy for party squats, infact they often take a 50% cut.

It isn't made clear whether the new building is being run as a social centre or what connection, if any, it has to Matilda or the people who ran it. It could be that some new crew are pulling a fast one by implying a connection and sorting themselves out with K and special brew on their cut of the part.
However, it's more likely that peopel from Matilda have opened a new building which will soon be used as a new social centre and that the 30% cut will help fund sorting out the building.

Instead of putting doubts in peoples heads without any evidence either way, could you not have asked around to find out the score?
