anarchafeminist | 03.03.2010 19:22 | Gender | Repression | World

This Saturday see the 3rd Million Women Rise! March and rally in London.
There are coaches going from all over the country. For further details visit www.millionwomenrise.com or ring 07727 419634

Million Women Rise is a coalition of individual women and representatives from the Women's Voluntary and Community Sector who have come together to organise an annual national demonstration against male violence which coincides with International Women's Day in March each year.

On the demonstration, we celebrate and honour women's activism, courage and achievements and continued struggle against global male violence in all its forms. Million Women Rise is an expression of women's continued resistance and struggle against global male violence.

A woman's right to live free from violence and / or the fear of violence has not been achieved. Women continue to be attacked and violated in many different ways, in our homes, on our streets, on our public transport, at our places of work. The government, the TV and newspapers do very little to address this issue; instead they often blame women for wearing the wrong clothes or being in the wrong place.

If you think this needs to change, then join us on a public demonstration to show those in power that it's just not good enough! We need to show our mass dissatisfaction; we need to be strong together and in large numbers. Unity is strength; the voices of many are louder together than a single voice.

Together and united we are ending male violence against women and children.

If you want to see change for yourself, your children, your families, your communities then come out and say no to violence against women!

Documentary of Iranian Women's March against Hejab on March 8th,1979

07.03.2010 11:33

 http://iransolidarity.blogspot.com/2010/03/iranian-womens-march-against-hejab-on.html

Less than 3 weeks after Islamic Regime gained power in Iran, it started attacking women rights by enforcing the Hejab and other reactionary Islamic Laws on women. The women's movement reacted and on March 8th, 1979, more than 35 thousands of them came into the streets of Tehran and protested against the Islamic Regime. This documentary film is made by a French film crew and is in French originally which was translated to English by a member of Iran Solidarity - Vancouver.
