Medical research is immensely expensive. If a firm finds a cure for a disease such as diabetes,it will patent that cure. This is to prevent Uncle Tom Cobleigh and all from copying their work and selling the products. The snag is that private firms usually do the job faster and cheaper.

The pharmaceutical companies that were formed after IG Farbin broke up, following the Nuremberg trails, have (inadvertantly ?) infected most of the population with all sorts of diseases, via contaminated vaccines. (such as the SV40 virus in polio vaccines)

Why is it, if you ask those who lived through the polio epidemics in the 50's whether more than one person per houshold had the disease, you will by hard pushed to find more than one family member affected ?

How can this be possible if polio is a highly communicable disease caused by a virus ?

1. Nice graph, isn't it? The only trouble is that correlation and causation are two entirely, utterly completely different beasts. Example: I very strongly suspect that if you plotted passenger miles flown in commercial piston engined aircraft over the same period you would get a graph almost identical to the ones you have plotted. Why? No reason at all. there is correlation but not causation.

2. Use of internet as source. Anyone can put up an internet site. I have several myself. However, for serious research they are usually meaningless for the following reasons:

i. There is no peer review. In other words, anyone can put up what they like without any checks whatsoever. Even the laws of libel become meaningless in an international context [which is just as well for Indymedia]. I could put up a site alleging Winston Churchill built the gas ovens in Auschwitz, and who is there to stop me? In a few months, I could find myself being quoted as an expert.

ii Internet sites are ultimate in vanity publishing. It does matter that you have nothing to say, or it may be meaningless, or it may be actively misleading - you can still publish.

3. Paranoia rules OK. Don't worry about the cuases, just fling the mud.

CHILDREN 27-TIMES MORE LIKELY TO DEVELOP AUTISM WITH EXPOSURE TO MERCURY-CONTAINING VACCINES, FINDINGS REVIEWED AT TODAY'S IOM MEETING IN DC

Washington, DC- Today, the Institute of Medicine will hold a one-day meeting to review important new research on the link between thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative in vaccines, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism. One of the larger studies under review comes from the CDC's own Vaccine Safety Datalink. Under independent investigation, CDC's data
concludes children are 27-times more likely to develop autism after exposure to three thimerosal-containing vaccines (TCVs), than those who receive thimerosal-free versions.

The findings are not only disturbing to government officials like U.S. Rep. Dave Weldon, M.D. (R-FL), who is also scheduled to speak before the IOM panel, they suggest autism via TCVs has a higher relative risk than that between lung cancer and smoking, which according to the American Cancer Society is only 22 for men and 11 for women. "This absolutely confirms what parents have been saying for years," says Jo Pike, President, National Autism
Association. Like Pike, thousands of parents have reported sharp regressions in their children following a TCV and many of those children have gone on to receive a label of autism. An easy mistake to make since the symptoms of autism and mercury poisoning are almost identical.

Dr. Mark Geier is the lead investigator in the discovery. A medical doctor with a Ph.D. in genetics, he, along with fellow researcher, David Geier, will discuss their findings of the CDC data in front of an IOM panel. Among a host of other physicians and researchers presenting will be Dr. Jeff Bradstreet. He will discuss the results from his peer-reviewed study which concluded that urinary mercury concentrations were six times higher in children with autism vs. normal-age/vaccine-matched controls.

Highly toxic chemicals contaminate the nation

A cocktail of highly toxic man made chemicals has been found in every single person tested in a UK-wide blood survey commissioned by WWF.
ContamiNATION, The Results of WWF's Biomonitoring Survey shockingly reveals that chemicals, such as DDT, which have been banned for decades and which are associated with a range of health problems including cancers and nervous and immune system disorders continue to contaminate people today. Other chemicals with similar properties, and which are still in use, were also found in high levels.

The survey is the first to identify the widespread contamination of ordinary people by a chemical used to prevent fire in everyday products such as cars and TVs. The flame retardant was found in seven per cent of those tested, with the highest levels of contamination being comparable with those found in people who are exposed to the chemical at work.

The widely used chemical, known as deca-brominated dipheyl ether, has not been properly tested for safety. Alarmingly, current risk assessments are linking the chemical to damage of the brain and nervous systems. Chemicals with similar properties and which have been shown to have similar negative effects on health have been banned.

"The chemical industry is contaminating the nation and the government is rolling over and allowing it to continue," said Justin Woolford, leader of WWF's Chemicals and Health Campaign. "As a major player in Europe, the UK must take proactive action to drive through tough EU legislation which prioritises our health and that of the environment by phasing out the most harmful chemicals in favour of safer alternatives."

The survey, carried out in association with The Co-operative Bank and National Federation of Women's Institutes, tested the blood of 155 volunteers nationwide for 77 chemicals. It provides unique data on the concentrations of PCBs (Poly Chlorinated Biphenyls), used in industrial electrical equipment, and certain types of pesticides and flame retardants in the UK's population.

PCBs and a breakdown product of the pesticide DDT were found in 99 per cent of those tested. However, women were found to have lower levels of certain PCBs than men and the levels appear to reduce in relation to the number of children they carried and breast-fed. These differences seem to be related to women 'off-loading' some of the chemicals in their bodies to their children.

"This report shows us that it doesn't matter who we are or where we live we are all contaminated by industrial chemicals which have not been properly assessed for their safety before they are unleashed upon us," said Justin Woolford. "The number and concentrations of chemicals found are deplorable. We are unwittingly playing Russian roulette with our health because of regulatory inaction."

The survey does show that effective chemical regulation banning the manufacture and use of hazardous chemicals can eventually begin to reduce human levels of contamination. For example, the survey failed to find two types of pesticide which have been banned from use in the UK. It also found that contamination from PCBs, which were banned more than twenty years ago, is gradually decreasing from levels found in the UK 10 years ago. In addition, older people were found to have higher levels of PCBs in their blood.

As one of the people tested, the results clearly demonstrate that man made chemical contamination of our bodies is a reality. That is why the bank has joined this important campaign and we make no apology for highlighting the issues to our customers and hammering home to those in the legislative front line that REACH offers a one in a lifetime opportunity to help safeguard not only wildlife and the environment but our future generations."



Volunteers who took part in the study delivered a copy of the survey to the Prime Minister Tony Blair with an urgent request that his government take action to reduce our exposure to toxic chemicals to protect people and wildlife.

FIGHTING for breath with a mass of tubes keeping him alive, tiny Scott Bowen is Britain's youngest victim of Gulf War Syndrome.

Weighing just 2lb 4oz, the tragic tot was born two months prematurely after both his parents returned from serving in Iraq.

Dad Justin, 27, and mum Vicky, 20, had multiple vaccinations before going to war last year and developed symptoms of the Syndrome.

They are now sure the cocktail of jabs - especially the controversial anthrax shot - is behind their new-born's desperate condition.

And last night a Gulf War Syndrome expert said he was "almost certain" Scott's severe heart valve and bladder problems was caused by his parents' roles in the Iraq war.

Professor Malcolm Hooper - a member of the MoD's independent Vaccine Panel - said: "This is an extremely disturbing case. If it is nothing to do with Gulf War Syndrome I would be amazed."

Baffled doctors have told his parents they cannot think of an explanation for his conditions.

Scott will have to undergo a bladder operation when he is a year old, and medics fear he may be growth-retarded.

Justin, a private with the Royal Army Medical Corps, and Vicky, a member of the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps, were both called up for service in January last year.

Vicky was given two anthrax jabs plus inoculations for yellow fever, hepatitis B and typhoid. She declined to complete the voluntary course of four anthrax injections when she was in the Gulf over fears about their safety. Justin had had two anthrax jabs in Colchester in November 2002. He was advised to start the course again when he reached Kuwait in February - and had six in total.

The Government pledged not to give troops multiple jabs, which have been blamed for making thousands of Gulf War 1 veterans sick.

Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon even said a year ago: "A key lesson learned about inoculations is that it is not sensible to inflict on our forces a large number simultaneously."

The couple were both home in Gosport, Hants, by the end of May last year, and within weeks Vicky was pregnant. Scott had to be delivered by caesarean section on January 7 after scans showed problems in the womb.

Vicky says: "I suddenly started having contractions. I was in hospital for three days as doctors tried to stop my labour. Then Scott's heart rate dropped. Because of the way he was lying, the doctors could not be sure if he had developed all his organs. His only chance of survival was to be delivered."

Vicky recalled how a midwife described her placenta as "the weirdest colour she had ever seen".

Scott was placed on a life-support machine at Arrow Park Hospital, Cheshire, and made steady progress until last week when he was put back on a ventilator. Vicky says: "Scott has bladder and heart valve problems which we have since learnt are both associated with anthrax.

"We blame the Army. They never warned us it was dangerous for me to get pregnant."

Military chiefs advised troops it was dangerous to conceive within six months of returning from the 1991 Gulf War. But Army sources say this advice was not given to forces in last year's conflict. Campaigners say Gulf War Syndrome has hit 9,000 veterans of the first conflict, but the MoD officially denies it exists.

Justin now suffers constant stomach pains - and in December Vicky suddenly developed such a bad case of pneumonia that she had to be taken to hospital near their Army married quarters in Gosport.

It was there, on Christmas Eve, that medics noticed problems with Scott's development. She and Justin went to stay with his family in Wallasey on the Wirral for the New Year - and Vicky went into labour.

She has since left the Army, and Justin is on compassionate leave. A doctor at the hospital said: "Scott is still obviously in danger and being constantly monitored."

The Sunday Mirror has highlighted cases of soldiers who have fallen ill since last year's conflict. But Scott is the first baby feared to have fallen victim to the illness.

Children of male veterans are prone to heart problems while those of female veterans tend to suffer urino- genital defects. Scott has both.

Professor Hooper said: "This poor baby seems to have inherited the worst of both worlds.

"The MoD needs to address issues like this but has not done so although it is 13 years since the first Gulf War."

Shaun Rusling of The National Gulf Veterans and Families Association said: "There should be a public inquiry into the vaccines given to troops."

CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME/MYALGIC ENCEPHALOMYELITIS

October 31, 2001 - The condition was unfairly named, “Yuppie flu,” and it is still viewed in that derogatory manner by some people, including scientists who think the condition, which can include a wide range of neurological and immune deficiency symptoms, as well as fatigue, is nothing more than a psychological affliction. You work too hard. You burn out. You become depressed.

I’ve long considered the “psychological” theory to be absurd, given the wealth of scientific data that suggest that the condition is physically real. But I’ll leave a detailed examination of that entire scientific/political battlefield for another day. One step at a time. First, let’s look at the name change that some people are proposing for the condition. There is a petition circulating to call it “Myalgic Encephalomyelitis,” rather than CFS, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. (see www.ncf-net.org/rann.html)

Hillary Johnson, author of Osler’s Web, a book I highly recommend, endorses this name change, in part, because in 1988 when CFS was selected by a small group of scientists and doctors, the motivation was to “obfuscate the nature of the disease by placing it in the realm of the psychiatric rather than the organic.” Johnson quite reasonably believes this had something to do with avoiding costs to insurance companies and that the move “deliberately ignored a substantial body of published research on ME,” or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. The term is often used in Britain and Canada. Johnson, along with many others, is fighting for its official use in the U.S.

There are pros and cons. The term, “ME” may perhaps one day yield more specific medical attention. Physicians like to have clear-cut definitions of disease and they like to work with old standards, and not sets of symptoms that cannot be categorized easily. That way, they can rule things in or out quickly. And who has time these days to bother with a very detailed medical history? Doctors also like to have a pen and prescription pad at the ready. When an illness doesn’t quite fit the mental boxes that were filled in medical school, it can be very frustrating to work with difficult patients. Medicine is a very conservative enterprise and numerous sociological studies reveal how difficult it is to get doctors to change their medical practice habits. For example, getting doctors to be more vigilant about high blood pressure took many years of pushing and pulling by the various medical societies and consensus conferences.

So will a shift from CFS to ME lead to better doctoring and thereby easier access to insurance? Maybe. But probably not quickly. This doesn’t mean that it isn’t worth a try, but the effort must be seen as a long-term goal.

On the other hand, there are potential problems in moving away from a name (CFS) that has a better press these days than when the term “yuppie flu” prevailed.

There is also another issue to consider: How many people who suffer a range of symptoms will be screened out by a very tight definition of ME and one that, given common medical inclinations, is likely to get even tighter? I don’t have the answer, but my guess is that a good many more people will be written off as misfits or referred to a psychiatrist. All the literature that I’ve seen on CFS/ME suggests that certain types of exposures, and particularly viral, may result in a wide range of combinations of symptoms that are not categorized easily.

There are also some features of CFS/ME that many people do not like to talk about. The complex medical condition that some people live with shares some symptoms with AIDS. There is, for example, in some cases, disruption of key components of the immune system. One prominent CFS/ME researcher once referred to CFS as “AIDS Minor.” The point here is that there are medical variables that need sorting out. My take is that CFS/ME, like AIDS, will prove to be much more complex and dynamic an affliction than currently understood.

In the end, better science will help resolve some issues.

Merck and Co. (known by different names in different countries) are the sole manufacturers of the controversial MMR vaccine. Another year over, and still no political will to look at vaccines, indeed, removal of legal aid during the last few months from a class action appears designed to put a lid on it for good, rather like the Hutton Inquiry and Iraq. The invariable trashing of all alternative opinion, including the documentary Hear the Silence, is getting tedious, predictable and giving Britain a bad name.

Dr Challoner sets out many examples of hitherto indisputed side effects of vaccinations, since they were first developed, mysteriously now not acknowledged. Any attack on the brain by a virus can lead to the onset of autism. Viral infection is a known causal factor for autism. Certain types of genetic vulnerability will make a child more susceptible, but the final trigger is necessary in this destructive tapestry.

I was in the Royal Courts recently when Lord Justice Judge read out the Decision in the Cannings case, the mother who was wrongfully convicted of murdering her children and locked away for life. Knowing that one of Sally Clark's babies died within hours of a triple vaccine, that Alan Yurko's baby died following vaccination, yet he is locked up in the US, that other cases are awaiting trial with the same story, it was staggering to listen and read of the temporal associations between triple vaccinations - DPT and MMR - and the sudden illness or sudden death of Angela Cannings' babies. The first child died within 24 hours and was a bouncing baby before the vaccination. Another child became immediately very ill within 24 hours of the MMR and was dead within 10 days. Immunisations were implicated with the other two children but less clearly defined, one of whom survived, and more details are needed.

I would be interested in Dr Challoner's views on this 10 day period, which I have heard about in a number of cases, and what may be happening to the system of a baby following the triple vaccine during the subsequent 10 days.

The fact that innocent parents have been jailed for life for murder when such startlingly obvious temporal associations have been brushed aside and not even mentioned beggars belief but must surely be examined. In fact their very omission in the original court cases surely speaks volumes?

At a conference in Australia last week, many people spoke about immune system problems following vaccines, about reactions which look like a child has been beaten, about the rapid rise in bowel problems, autistic and attentional problems, asthma and ezcema, apnea, ME etc. in the last 15 years. I in 100 children are now found to have Coeliac Disease and many others will have bowel problems which just fall short of the full criteria for this disorder. This is incredible.

It is now expected that at least one autistic child will be found in every street, yet in the mid eighties most people thought you were saying `artistic` not `autistic` when asked about professional interests - it was so rare.

What is happening to our society that we are all blind to the obvious? or are we all too scared to speak out about this outrage?

Well we should be scared - we will all have to rely on this generation to look after all of us in the not so distant future. Perhaps we will get what we deserve.

Mercury sensitises the brain, which can be affected by multiple live virus vaccines especially the measles of MMR if the immune system is deficient having been compromised by cadmium or mercury exposure or dietary selenium deficiency.

In 2 USA autism clinics, 50% of the victims developed the disorder following MMR vaccination. Babies born in New York born in March are more prone to autism because of exposure of the mother to the high pollutant smog levels prevalent in July/August at a critical time in the womb.

Brain cells would also be even more susceptible to attention deficit disorder if affected by deficiency of essential fatty acids such as found in oily fish (omega-3) or flaxseed; or exposure to tartrazine or cadmium.

Even one injection of tetanus vaccine in healthy adults sufficed to utilise some in 63.6% of patients or almost all in 36.4% of patients of available T-lymphocytes. Cimetidine has been found to stimulate T-lymphocyte production and hence has shortened recovery in shingles.

Diversion of T-lymphocytes to the lungs in areas polluted with PM2.5s explains why there are insufficient for some babies to cope with multiple live vaccines like MMR with some producing antibodies to only part of the combination, leaving for example clusters of live measles virus in the bowel wall causing low-grade inflammation with leaks of partly digested bits of polypeptide chains into the bloodstream to cause yet more potential problems.

EEGs taken before and after pertussis vaccine revealed abnormalities developed in 2 out of 83 normal children; while all of 61 children with history of febrile seizures or epilepsy produced a significant increase in “epileptic spikes” after DPT and DT vaccinations.

Genes in Gulf War veterans have been found with fragmented, reshuffled genes of chromosome 22Q11.2, which is required in antibody production.

This gene damage can result from viruses or other cell stress from chemicals (like low doses of arsenic activating viruses), as found in ME & CFS.

Mycoplasma has been found to cause punctate lesions in the left frontal lobe of the brain. Mycoplasma feeds on sterols in cells including red blood cells. The red blood cells then swell leading to poor circulation resulting in aches, pain and weakness.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome victims have revealed various biological markers including higher atypical lymphocytes, circulating immune complexes, raised IgG, novel low molecular weight 2-5A-binding protein, sleep changes, low folate, reduced bowel bifidobacteria and e-coli, neuroendocrine dysfunction (with low cortisol, low CRH and low ACTH,) & involvement of a chemical, or virus such as Epstein-Barr, Lyme Disease, Q-Fever, Parvovirus or HHV-6 (herpes) found in the most affected patients.

Researchers are designing molecular biosensors to be injected into the bloodstream to seek out and destroy cancer cells. These biosensors, about 10,000 times smaller than the head of a pin, will also allow physicians to image the cancer and follow the patient's response to therapy - all with minimal side effects and little disruption of healthy tissue.

Biological macromolecules, such as proteins or nucleic acids, could be directly attached to
these structures and their reactivity directly monitored and controlled. Specific micro-sensors
for glucose or cholesterol could be created for blood monitoring. Antibodies could be attached
for sensing of particular metabolites for pharmacological dose monitoring or even for detection
of biowarfare agents. Additionally, this may have eventual application to chemical or
biochemical logic devices where reaction states can be switched and monitored in parallel.
This can also be useful for directed, in-situ microsynthesis. Libraries of chemical compounds
could be constructed and functionally assessed enabling, for example, rapid drug discovery,
materials research, or advanced catalyst development.

In the event of a biological attack, the U.S. will need to identify those who have been exposed to a biological warfare agent and to distinguish them from the “worried well,” as well as from those with natural diseases that might require different treatment. Therefore, identifying disease markers that can serve as rapid indicators of exposure is one of the focus areas of the Advanced Medical Diagnostics program. One group at Stanford University is looking for genetic markers by testing human cell cultures exposed to a variety of infectious disease agents and other stimuli. In FY 2000, the researchers identified a number of human genes that are selectively turned on or off in response to infection, and in FY 2001, they are testing for these markers in clinical settings such as hospitals.
