Indymedia is about 'our' news- Bailey was an important figure in 'our' music, that is, not necessarily music you or I might 'like', but non-corporate, radical music that pushed the boundaries and made the world a more interesting, richer place. He was a musical pioneer and greatly influential in musical fields that, whilst little reported, are about integrity rather than Bono & Geldof style posturing. His passing is noteworthy and newsworthy, and I think its only fitting that a source such as indymedia should report it ahead of the corporate press, who will no doubt eventually catch up and I'm sure a Grauniard obit will be forthcoming. 'Our' obits have some meaning and resonance however.
Which is not to demean the death of of your 'mates gran' of course.
