Update on Mexican Embassy arrests at Oaxaca/Brad solidarity demo

There are currently (5pm 31/10/06) eight people being held after the demonstration held outside the Mexican Embassy in London on the 30th of October.
They are at Saville Row police station in Central London, and reported to be in good conditions and high spirits.
They are charged with relatively minor offences on sections 5 and 14 of the Public Order Act. These relate respectively to harrasment and non compliance with police conditions on a public assembly. These are technically "non arrestable" offences, although the police have powers to keep them over 24 hours if they believe that names or addresses may not be correct.
The detainees are due to appear in court tomorrow 1st of November at 10 am, City of Westminster Magistrates' Court AKA Horseferry Road Magistrates' Court

They have however expressed that supporters' energies are better spent towards solidarity with the people of Oaxaca who are still resisting the military onslaught, rather than them.
