Located upstairs from 'MeloMelo' Fair-Trade tea and coffee bar at the corner of Slater and Parr Street; C.U.T.S is a community-centred resource aiming to support creative skills development for local artists, recent graduates and those wishing to learn new skills.
C.U.T.S is running a series of Induction Workshops over October and November to prepare participants with the skills to use the resources on an open-access basis for their own projects.

A brief scedule of worksop dates (for more detailed information see below):

- 3-D cushion Workshops; 3 Saturday sessions 6th, 13th & 20th of October,
12-5pm.

-Creative Garment Workshops; 4 Tuesday evening sessions
October 30th, November 6th, 13th & 20th, 6-9pm.

-Badge Workshop; Saturday 3rd of November, 12-5pm

-Dissolving Fabric Workshop; Saturday the 10th of November, 12-5pm.

-Bag Workshop; Saturday 17th of November, 12-5pm.

Workshop Title 3-D Cushion Workshop (Screen Printing & Quilting)

Dates 3 Saturday sessions 6th, 13th & 20th of October 2007
Times Midday to 5pm
Costs £10 per session or £20 for 3 session advance booking.All
materials included.
Additional Participants completing this course will be awarded C.U.T.S
induction certificates in ‘Screen-Print’ and ‘Sewing Machine
Use’ and will be entitled to book additional studio-time to
use these facilities at reduced rates.

Week One (06/10/07):
An Introduction to Recycled Screen Print Techniques with Steve Gent.
Stencil Design & Initial prints.
(C.U.T.S Induction Certificate in ‘Screen-Print’ awarded for completion of this session)

Week Two (13/10/07):
Finalisation of Prints. (Steve Gent)
Sewing-machine Induction and Quilting Techniques with Beccy Williams.
(C.U.T.S Induction Certificate in ‘Sewing Machine Use’ awarded for completion of this session)

Week Three (20/10/07):
Finalisation of quilted samples and cushion-cover production.

Workshop Title Creative Garment Workshop

Costs £7.50 per session, or £20 for 4 session advance
booking.All materials included, but feel free to bring you
own choice of Fabrics.
Additional Participants completing this course will be awarded a
C.U.T.S Induction Certificate in ‘Sewing Machine Use’ and
will be entitled to book additional studio-time to use these
facilities at reduced rates.

Week One (30/10/07):
Design development and initial pattern cutting with Luisa Dawn.
Choose from a variety of garment-types.

Week Two (06/11/07):
Textile manipulation techniques with Beccy Williams and Luisa Dawn.
Machine-embroider, appliqué or screen-print* cut pieces before sewing.
Participants will be awarded a C.U.T.S Induction Certificate in ‘Sewing Machine Use’ for completion of this session.
* For use of screen print facilities, participants need to hold a C.U.T.S Induction Certificate in ‘Screen-Print’; please see ‘3-D Cushion Workshop’ Week One.


Week Three (13/11/07):
Pin and stitch with Luisa Dawn.

Week Four (20/11/07):
Final finishing with Luisa Dawn and Beccy Williams.
Photo-shoot with Photographer Cormac McFergus, images will be emailed to you.
