New Sequani campaign building momentum + new job openings for security staff!

Stop Sequani Campaign | 26.01.2008 00:09 | Stop Sequani Animal Testing | SOCPA | Animal Liberation | Repression

Demos every day at Sequani torture labs, workers shamed in and out of work! Now up to five security guards for five protesters as new campaign builds up momentum!

Workers were welcomed in to work as activists turned up at Sequani torture labs at 7am on the dot again. Workers looked pissed off as usual, probably at the prospect of being reminded for another week running of the work they do which kills and maims so many animals. Friendly local cops attended as usual.

Sequani clinical have been receiving noisy megaphone demonstrations and the public were made aware of the human cost of the drug side affects that are not detected by the animal experiments that take place at the other Sequani animal torture site. Not that any of the Sequani research is life saving unless anti dandruff shampoo, anti perspirant deodorant and sanitary products which take away period pain (!?) are life saving?

On departing Sequani employees were subjected to a public shaming on the megaphone, passing motorists were supportive of the demo and pissed off that the police shut the road to allow the workers out quickly so they didn’t have to see the “terrorists”.

We have been at Sequani every weekday except Wednesdays for the past three weeks, get used to it Sequani, we see that you have job openings at Sequani for Security staff, hmmm we know a few people who might be interested who haven’t been out on demonstrations before who might be able to help you out...

Even with the Sequani 6 being dragged through the Crown court using unjust unlawful SOCPA legislation a new campaign is born. It looks like you haven't stopped lawful protest just yet have you West Mercia, but no doubt paedophiles are being released early so you can fill up the prisons with a few more campaigners for pointing and shouting in 2008!

Good to see yet another formation of opposition to Quintiles England Limited (Sequani). The protests against this evil company have and will never stop, whatever the weather.

Leave it at the dandruff

You really don't help the cause making out that period pain isn't that important. Whats with the (!?) ?

Why not in future just write anti-dandruff and anti perspirant and sanitary products. It's more likely to get people on your side. Or was this written by someone who's knowledge of women extends to sex mags?

I've been hospitalised through period pain, I can assure you it's medical. I agree that even medical products shouldn't be tested on animals but at the same time shouldn't be considered the same as anti-dandruff.

Megan

Don't start - please!

26.01.2008 17:51

Megan, your remark about sex mags is pretty insulting (and no, I don't even know the original poster) and it was enough to simply point out that period pain can be a crippling issue for some, without stooping quite so low. This posting is about animals and the suffering inflicted upon them by humans. Can we please stop turning everything into a human-only issue in making this a gender argument.

woman

Actually...

26.01.2008 18:40

I understand that period pain can be a serious problem for many women, however it is usually underlying problems that cause bad period pain - I take it you aren't hospitalised by periods every month right? Do you not remember the toxic shock cases with the last "fragrance" sanitary products? These products would make menstruation which is a natural thing which for most women doesn't need medicating into something which is "wrong" with the female body which needs medication.

For the record, I would imagine that dandruff and odour problems have been seriously bad for some people and had a huge negative impact on their lives maybe even ruined some peoples lives?

It would seem that we live in a society that thinks everything is a medical condition which needs the latest wonder drug.

Stop Sequani Campaign

The bottom line

26.01.2008 19:22

Is that Sequani Ltd call itself a a centre for essential life-saving research (like HLS and the rest of them) and they continue to test products that are far from life saving...PMS is one of those examples because quite frankly nobody has died from it.

Basically they try and make a distinction between "life-saving" medical research centres and companies like P&G who mutilate animals for pet food trials.....whereas they are all the same, they'll test anything for anyone, anyhow with any non-human animal.

I understand your point of view, just thought I'd clear up what was ment...

...

Erm....

26.01.2008 19:28

Doesn't anyone else see something wrong with a sanitary product which takes away period pain?? Imagine millions of women constantly having pain killers leeching into their bodies, the fact is you only know the full effect of a new drug after a baby is born then is when you will find birth defects etc...

If you need medication because of period pain then take it separately for fuck sake!

I heard a number of animal friendly people tonight who had read this post say that they may well apply for the security job at Sequani. Apparently none of them has ever attended an animal rights demonstration or have they any convictions for animal rights related activities.

Good luck with the campaign.

Stop Sequani Campaign - do you always talk down to people like this? If so you've no chance of stopping this or any organisation. I've been into AR since the mid 80's and if I'm annoyed by your attitude imagine what the people who are currently sitting on the fence are like when they come across you?

As for fragranced sanitary products; Toxic Shock Syndrome can happen even without the use of sanitary products, the use of tampons does increase the risk but nothing to do with fragranced ones.

Also why are you deflecting the discusion, I thought this was about period pain not Toxic Shock. Do you babble on and deflect questions when dealing with the general public? Period pain products will not stop Toxic Shock.

I worry that people like you are harming our movement with glib statements and acting superior. Why not simply take hints on board and modify what you write the next time you write about what Sequani tests?

Megan

Megan..

27.01.2008 15:16

I hope that you are as actively involved in the campaign to stop sequani animal testing as the initial poster group is.

I do hear your arguments but I would like to know that the actions that you take against sequani are louder than you argumentative internet posts.

Also, I don't belong to WARN incase you were wondering.

Smash Sequani

What??

27.01.2008 16:02

Megan, I have not said anything to put you or anyone else down, nor have I talked down to anyone. You have made an issue out of nothing here. I was not intending to slate feminine issues I was actually pointing out the absurdity of having something inside your body that leeches chemical pain relief. Not that it is absurd that women don't want period pains.

Frankly we don't have time to argue over wording of our statements.

You are the only person here who has been insulting without asking yourself if you have the wrong end of the stick.

If you wish to push your point further please contact Sequani Clinical and start the trials?

Calm down Megan!

27.01.2008 17:39

Megan are you pre-menstrual? I cannot believe you are annoyed/offended at people who are doing their upmost to stop animal cruelty, calm down and think of the bigger picture! Its 2008 not the 1980's,
and as for harming the movement they are the movement!

Police questioning ...

27.01.2008 17:54

Smash Sequani "but I would like to know that the actions that you take against sequani are louder than you argumentative internet posts".

Sounds like the filth talking. I bet you'd like to know what actions real activists are taking wouldn't you? Hopefully Megan and indeed all activists won't tell you and will keep what they do to themselves. Loud-mouth activists "proving themselves" is just what the police need. If Megan has been into AR for as long as she said she has then I'm sure she's done lots to help the animals, there's no need to prove it to anyone.

The police love those few glory hunting activists that document every little action they do on the internet, it makes the police job so much easier and does nothing to help the animals.

Smash Sequani you really must try harder in future if you want an easy arrest.

Keep Mum!

re: keep mum!

27.01.2008 18:49

If 'Smash Sequani' sounds like the police, who do you sound like?
Have you ever heard of a 'rhetorical question'?
'SSAT rocks'

Pre-menstrual!!

"Keep Mum" "Megan"

27.01.2008 20:02

Got me!

Here's I thinking you'd spill all the beans on the actions you've taken against Sequani in the past.

That's my promotion down the shit hole innit?

Still, I do hope that you do actually actively campaign against Sequani, NOT that I want to know how you may campaign against Sequani.

My only concern is that you only winged from behind your keyboard to IMC against those that DO actually campaign against Sequani.

Good on you if you do actually campaign against Sequani. I certainly don't want to know how you may do this but hell, if you do, keep it up!

Real actions

"I bet you'd like to know what actions real activists are taking wouldn't you?"

They do know...it gets reported to WARN and goes on the newswire. Just thought I'd point out!

Time of the month!!!

Who would have thought period pains would have caused such a furore!
Are the police using menstruation as a divide and conquer tactic?
Lets not moan about SSAT.
