Mozaz's Funeral

Chris | 03.02.2011 17:11 | History | Sheffield

There were a lot of old and new faces at Mozaz's funeral and wake today, attached is a recording of the funeral and some anecdotes from people at the wake.

Thanks for putting these up. I wasn't well enough to get there today, so it's nice to be able to listen and feel I participated in some way.

Mozaz funeral

04.02.2011 00:31

Yes, thanks to everyone who contributed to put the service together...in very difficult and trying circumstances.

It was a "Good" send-off, from those who could attend...and I am sure there must have been an equal number wanting to attend...but prevented by some or other reason.

There were also some notable absentees...and I wonder...now and ever....just WHAT will it take...for Sheffields' sometime "divided" activist and campaign scene...to come together in respect, acceptance and understanding of the ideology that Jimmy Pursey espoused ...and Mozaz...and I AGREED with....

"If the Kids are United, they will NEVER be divided",
Ditto...if the adults are divided...they will NEVER be United".?

Ideology....ideoschmology...huh?

We mourn deaths in ALL nations

Rest in Peace brother.

a joyful listen & some thoughts

Thanks for posting these. Craftyben and I have just spent part of our Sunday morning listening. We are grateful.

Things to say about Mozaz:

If we believe, as I think most readers here do, that Capitalism and the system we live in alienates, exploits and screws people into the ground, we must always expect the people that are spat out of the other end of the grinder can be screwed over too. Mozaz was put through that system from an early age and it screwed him over [again and again]. Big surprise he came out imperfect.

If Mozaz pissed you [and me] off at some time or another -- tough. If you tried to work with him on a project, my commiserations for the frustrations you suffered [I have felt them too]. But there must a place within this 'movement' for folks like Mozaz -- fucked over by capitalism and the state and still rebelling, angry [he had a lot to be angry about] and kicking against the pricks.

My life is better for having known Mozaz, he taught me a lot [in both ways: how to do and how not to do things].
