too 'black' & white for most people

I look at these images and all I see is black & white... a message of exclusion. 'Wear the black bloc uniform of freedom' instead of 'be free within yourself'. Nothing could be farther from the original Reclaim spirit.

Have you thought about what you will be reclaiming the city for? Because I really don't see it in these images. From what I can see this event is about *invading* the city, and doing it military-style: wearing uniforms and waving flags just like any other military on the march. Why should I pass any of these images on to the public and help them go viral? Most people I know woulde just going to look at them and think, 'There's no difference between the people doing this demo, and the authority figures that they claim to be fighting against. Cops dress in black and cover their faces, attacking in anonymity. How is this any different?' You'll have to answer that question before you ever win support from anything more than an angry minority who is fine with being 'a soldier for the cause' instead of being themselves.

I hate to say it, but these images make you seem like a bunch of copycats, imitating the tactics of authority figures instead of thinking of an alternative way of being/thinking/acting. Why both dismantling the system at all if your behaviour is only going to end up recreating it, though? Have you thought about what you want to create? Or only what you want to destroy?

I think it's a shame becuase the 'Reclaim' message is really, really important to get across to the masses just now. But for that to happen, movements like this need to be thinking in colour instead of thinking in black and white.

Your comment is welcomed. I don't think the images create those thoughts unless that's how you want to think and react. The reclaim main post has an extent of information about what this event is about. The point in AnY reclaim or any demo at that, is its entirely up to the individual on how they want to react to the issues we have in our world. Some are peaceful, some are not. Protesting is completely down to individual choice and nothing more.. These posters are made by a black bloc group so maybe that's why they are geared toward that side of things..
Just because some wear a mask does not make them anything like the police at all. Its for self protection nothing more. To say were just recreating what the police do is obsurd especially not knowing the background of anyone posting the pictures.

The massive fact here is that protesting is about EVERYONE from every background coming together as one tribe to demonstrate how we feel. Everyone does that in different ways. A good few of those pictures have nothing to do with masked anarchists.. Anarchy is not just About smashing things up and destroying things at all. Its about approaching the situation in a different manor. You could sit on he floor and sing holding hands or stand your ground with a mask on, BUT either way we ALL want the exact same outcome.

Just because a picture might be geared one way than the other does that mean its how YOU have to act? Of course not. Bring your own ideas to the table. Reclaim the streets is a massive and hugely successful movement and it will continue to be so.

Thanks

uniform

Wearing 'uniform' also does not make you like police. The last demo I went to was an anti austerity march and over 10,000 people give or ake had the same red tops and hats on. Does that make them 'military style' because they have a Uniform?
