Call for actions! Don't let Israel celebrate 60 years of occupation

ruth | 19.05.2008 22:34 | Anti-militarism | Palestine | Repression | London

SUNDAY 29th JUNE -LONDON & MANCHESTER
Calling all individuals, clowns, groups, journalists, first aiders, legal support, cameras & filmmakers: come along and show your disgust at 'celebrating' a nation built on war, terror and ethnic cleansing. Let's see the thousands who supported the people of Tibet also show their solidarity with the people of Palestine. End all occupations!

This is the first time the parade is happening in England and according to the official www.salutetoisrael.org, the Community Security Trust are providing 'over 3,000 security volunteers who will be working side by side with police officers on the day.'
www.thecst.org.uk

At a recent CST fundraising dinner, David Cameron urged them to ''carry on monitoring those who would harm this community..the CST is highly regarded because it is combines vigilance with responsibility and performs its duty with dignity and restraint. The police and security services do a great job but, inevitably, they have
many priorities and limited resources.'' So we will be in safe hands!

But of course the 60 year military occupation continues...Israel continues to build more illegal settlements in the West Bank and refuses to allow the 2-3 million Palestinians who are now refugees in the surrounding countries to return. The area now left for the hoped-for creation of a Palestinian state is in five disconnected blocks amounting to only 13% of the total area of Mandate Palestine. This land area and the degree of sovereignty that appears to be acceptable to Israel would make a two-state solution virtually impossible. Palestinians are gradually being expelled from Jerusalem, despite its designation as an international corpus separatum by the UN, and Israel has walled the city off from the rest of the West Bank. Many of the three quarters of a million Palestinians who fled the carnage in 1948-49 were exiled in refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. This is where they and their descendants still live, some within sight of their own homes and land, which they can see being used by the people whose armies drove them out.
The story is indeed one of national catastrophe for Palestinians. It is also one of immorality, illegality, racial discrimination and injustice perpetrated by Zionist
Israel. History shows that Britain has a particular responsibility; we owe it to the Palestinian people to support their struggle for justice and independence. (www.palestinecampaign.org/files/0802nakba-factsheetFINAL.pdf)

Happy birthday Israel

How many more birthdays until Israel is treated as another state. You do not protest on Australia's anniversery (despite their treatment of Aborigones) or protest against France who were one of the last colonialists in Africa of course or against Russia who occupy Chechnya or against India for occupying Kashmir - no just against Israel.

You champion murderous regimes in Iran (where homosexuals are executed), Saudi (where children can be put to death), regimes where women have no rights, no vote. But Israel who have a free press, equality of sexes, democracy - is the target of your hatred.

You say you are just anti Israeli, not anti Jewish - but the Hamas you support calls for the murder of Jews. Your comments can be traced to the Middle Age blood libels. You are fooling nobody.

86 Christian countries, 52 Muslim countries, ONE Jewish state, the size of Wales and you want to get rid of it.

Well - we are here to stay. Come to Heaton Park - if you are lucky the Police will take you away before I get to you.

You never protest against Palestinian terrorism!

Why do you never protest against Palestinian terrorism which is the real cause of the conflict in the Middle East? There would have been peace in the Middle East decades ago had it not been for the actions of murderous Palestinian terrorists like the PLO, Hamas and Hezbollah who have tried to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

...whatever your pitiful justifications, whatever your playground "but MI-I-I-SSS! what about THEM?" justifications, whatever your obfuscation, one fact remains; this state exists by virtue of stealing someone elses country.
Twice.
Full stop.
No messing.
And I have yet to meet a single zionist whocan come up with a convincing and credible argument against this.
The zionist entity was built on ethnic cleansing, terror and massacres, and therefore stands at the same level as Apartheid South Africa.

Injustice

20.05.2008 10:40

The reason the oppression of the Palestinian people gets so much press and attention is beacuse it is fundamental in reconcilliating the West and Muslim worlds. The continued injustice in Palestine and the West's inability to act is a message to all Muslim's that the West is against them. The conflict fuels terror, fuels hate. Jewish and Proud you are entirely correct in your condemnation of various other nations actions throughout history. I deplore any injustices or persecution on any level. I am ashamed of many of my own countries (u.k)actions both past and present. There should never have been a Jewish state there is the first place, a state you won yourselves not without the use of terrorism. Have you no compassion you must realise that despite many statements to the contrary the land grabbing continues. When you confine people without adequate healthcare, education, jobs, prospects a future for their children. Bulldoze people's homes to make way for your own, kill innocent women and children in vastly disproportionate retalliatory measures. Even shooting foreign reporters to hide the militaries crimes and paying the families millions to "keep quiet".

If I was an Israeli or a person of Jewish faith anywhere in the world I would be anything but proud of the flag waving patriotic display on your 60th anniversary. I wonder who would be proud of a country built on the foundations of state sponsored terror.......... Hitler...Goebbels....Stalin perhaps?

"How many more birthdays until Israel is treated as another state."

You mean until it's held to the same standards as other states, with International Laws, and violated and ignored UN Security Council Resoilutions enforced through a peacekeeping force to end Zionism's war?

I think something of the sort is not far off now ...

Can someone dispel my confusion, please, did Palestinians invade what used to be known as Palestine, or was that someone else ?
Did the someone else make space for their new country, by driving the previous occupants out, or not ? If not, then how come there are so many Palestinians in refugee camps ? Are they on holiday ? If the original refugees, from 1948, were not from what became "Israel", then who was it, that the British had a U.N. mandate over ? What became of them, are they refugees ? Are they on extended holiday, will Israel allow them to return ? Did they have a right to fight back, or seek help to fight against those who tried to drive them out.
As the driving, ethnic "cleansing", out, of such a large population, would have had to have involved killing some of them, for being the wrong kind of Semites, then how can such action not have been racist, and therefore, genocidal ? If this was so, then how can the new occupants, with their new state, and continuing to practice genocidal ethnic "cleansing", not be regarded, as state practitioners of genocide, i.e. neo- natzi's ?
Is the claim that such people should not be referred to as neo natzis because of some claim to be Jewish, comparable to Hutu, Intere Hamwe, claiming that they're not racist, or neo- natzi, because they're black
I'll hold my breath in anticipation of a reply . . . . . , or maybe not.
