Radford community on the march

Yesterday, over 100 members of the Radford community braved pouring rain to march from the Radford Unity Complex (RUC) to Nottingham's Market Square. They were protesting the City Council's proposed sell off of the RUC to an unknown buyer, despite the fact that many community groups have been using the building for over 20 years. Speeches were made at Speakers' Corner and then the group congregated outside the Council House. The mood was good natured and energetic but people were angry and defiant.

Now she/he has turned her/his attention to local dealers in death Heckler & Koch and plastered the city with posters designed to act "as a subliminal awareness raiser that the corrupt firm continue to operate from our city."

Graffiti art with consent banned in Nottingham

The local council has banned youth clubs from hosting legal graffiti art walls in the latest attack on the basic right of freedom of expression. A petition has been launched against this draconian assault, and further action may follow.

VICTORIA LEISURE CENTRE TO CLOSE IN WEEKS - AND NO PLANS TO REBUILD

Nottingham City Council is trying to close Victoria Leisure Centre on 31 March 2010, despite having no approved plans for development and no planning permission to demolish what is already there. If they succeed, the current Leisure Centre will be lost forever and the local community will have nowhere to go.

The Council must be persuaded to change their mind!

Subvertising hits the big time - media outrage at poppy appeal subverts

The power of simple subvertising was demonstrated this week when a little cut and paste work on a few billboards became a national media story. Elevated from a being noticed by just a few passers by to tens of thousands of readers and TV viewers, the subvertisement of poppy appeal posters has apparently hit a chord.
