DSEI From 9th till 11th of September , the Defence Systems and Equipment international arms fair (DSEi) took place in London. Mass protests and repression accompanied not only the event, but direct actions and mobilisation started early out of the anti-war and peace protests.

Zapatista Caravan to Mexico On February 24th, in 2001, 23 EZLN commanders, one subcommander, and hundreds of supporters from all over the world embarked on a journey through a large number of Mexican states to the capital Mexico City, to bring the seven year-long Zapatista struggle to the centre of Mexican political power. Their demands were: implementation of the San Andres accords of indigenous rights, release of all political prisoners, and closure of seven military bases in Chiapas. Detailed account of the various stages of the caravan and of the events during the EZLN's stay in Mexico City, reflections on the caravan, and some background on the Zapatistas.
 
War in Palestine After an escalation of suicide bombings in its cities, and using the pretext of 'self-defence', Israel launched Operation Protective Wall on 29 March 2002. What started with a raid on Arafat's Ramallah HQ has turned into the most intense and bloody assault on the Palestinian population of the West Bank since the state of Israel was declared in 1948.
 
Iraq War Threat The Bush administration continues to pursue a strategy of war with Iraq to secure 'regime change' at any price. Military action is to be justified on the grounds of Iraq's supposed development of weapons of mass destruction, along with highly suspect allegations that the Iraqi regime has links with the Al-Qaida organisation. September/October 2002.

Mayday 2003 Around the world people were out on the streets celebrating Mayday. In London the stage was set for a series of protests making the links between Arms and Oil as well as other issues (see ourmayday.org).

Argentina 2002 On December 19th and 20th massive mobilizations took place in Buenos Aires, throughout Argentina and around the world, to mark the 1 year anniversary of the popular rebellion in Argentina ousting former President Fernando de la Rua.
 
Copenhagen 2002 The weekend of the 13 - 14 December an EU summit took place in Copenhagen, Denmark.A coalition of grassroots movements, various activists groups, social and students' organizations, trade unions and left wing political parties called for a week of mobilization against the EU summit and the neo-liberal politics of the EU.
 
No War - Day of Action 2002 Thousands of anti-war protestors across the UK took to the streets on Halloween in protest at the government's plans to join a US led attack against Iraq. Around 150 different events included critical mass bike rides, occupations, and mass demonstrations in Brighton, Manchester, Glasgow and London and many other places including Broadstairs, Walthamstow, North Finchley, Muswell Hill, Gamlingay, Kingston, Milton Keynes, Southend and Dorking.
 
NATO Summit Prague 2002 The NATO summit, which took place on November 20 and 21, was the largest convention ever held in Prague: 46 heads of state 2,500 delegates 3,000 journalists.
 
Strasbourg Noborder Camp This first Europe-wide noborder camp was initiated by the Noborder network and organized by activist groups from a number of European countries. The camp consisted of 10 days of actions, workshops and discussions around the central demand of 'Freedom of Movement and Settlement for Everyone', bringing together activists, migrants and artists from across Europe in a laboratory of creative resistance and civil disobedience.
 
Earth Summit 2002 10 years after the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and the Johannesburg Earth Summit (aka The World Summit on Sustainable Development) is in full swing accompanied by an impressive mobilisation of alternative, independent, and radical information sources providing daily coverage.
 
EU Summit Seville 2002 Seville hosted the EU summit of 20-21 June, marking the end of Spain's EU presidency. The main subjects of the Seville summit were the strengthening of "fortress Europe" and the toughening of immigration laws. Meanwhile, the Seville Social Forum, unions, disobedients and many groups within Spanish civil society called for two days of action against the Europe of Capital and War that ended with a 200.000 strong demonstration in the streets of Seville.
 
Mayday 2002 Taking the atmosphere of a traditional 'Mayfayre' celebration, up to 15.000 people celebrated a sunny Mayday 2002 all over downtown London.
 
Barcelona 2002 BARCELONA: MOBILISATION AGAINST EU SUMMIT Campaign Against The Europe Of Capital, Barcelona 9-16 March. During 10 days Barcelona became a meeting place for many people, social movements, groups and initiatives that reject the current neoliberal capitalist model.
 
WEF/NATO/WSF New York 2002 From Thursday 31st January to Tuesday 5th of February, three large events collided to show the 'anti-corporate-globalisation' movement is certainly not dead! New York saw the lastest in a long series of protests against the World Economic Forum, while 3 days of protest against NATO and militarisation happened in Munich, Germany.
 
Peace Not War Following the hundred thousand national protest in Trafalgar Square against the US led war that the UK prime minister Tony Blair is supporting on Sunday November 18. A three minutes' silence will be observed the Peace Park in Tavistock Square, WC1 on Monday 7 January 2002, in memory of innocent civilian deaths in Afghanistan.
 
EU Summit Belgium 2001 Belgium, which has just come to the end of its six-month EU presidency, hosted a crucial inter-governmental conference in Laeken between 13-15 December.
 
WTO Conference Qatar 2001 Two years after the "Battle of Seattle", the World Trade Organisation (WTO) held their big meeting in Qatar on 9-13 November. By retreating to an isolated Persian Gulf dictatorship the WTO hoped to shut out public participation and scrutiny, and to hide its neo- liberal agenda from the massive global opposition.
 
Fiesta for Life in the Docklands 2001 The Campaign Against Arms Trade and the umbrella group Disarm DSEI have joined in a "Fiesta for Life against Death" in the Docklands of London to shut down DSEI, the largest arms fair in Europe.

Chain of Bordercamps in Fortress Europe 2001 "Freedom of movement" is the main goal of the six border camps this year. The Noborder network links anti-racist networks across Europe. They declare that "no-one is illegal" and strive for a globalisation based on the needs of people, not profit.

World Bank Barcelona 2001 The World Bank was planning to hold a major conference in Barcelona, Catalonia, but cancelled the meeting one month before its intended date, due to increasing resistance both in Barcelona and around the world.
 
EU Summit Gothenburg 2001 During the first six months of 2001, Sweden acted as chairman of the European Union. The period culminates in a summit in Göteborg, Sweden's second biggest city, during June 14th-16th. Thousands of politicians, bureaucrats, lobbyists journalists and photographers from all over Europe are attending the meeting, as is George W. Bush, the newly elected president of the USA.
