Venezuela Solidarity Demonstration at Edinburgh Festival
A spontaneous demonstration in solidarity with the people of Venezuela took place in Edinburgh, Sunday, 15th of august, co-inciding with the simultaneous referendum against Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela, and initiator of massive social reforms benefiting the poor. The Edinburgh Fringe festival also co-incided with the demonstration, lending a high profile of publicity to the cause of the demonstration, particular when the demonstration with comedian Mark Thomas accidently met the Edinburgh Samba School, the party rocked.

The prestigious event is attended by 217,000 people and broadcast around the world to a television audience of millions. As part of the June 12th international solidarity day for political prisoner Jeff "Free" Luers, we in the Bilston Glen Collective are organizing a solidarity action outside of the US Consulate in Edinburgh, 3 Regent Terrace, June 15th, 4pm. Activist Jailed for Breach of the Peace
On 1 June, 2004, Ludd, a For Mother Earth Scotland activist handed himself in to the police. A hearing was anticipated on 2 June, 1994. He is spending this time in jail for refusing to pay a £550 fine, imposed on him for opposing Government’s Weapons of Mass Destruction. He was charged only with of a breach of the peace. He was immediately taken to jail for 28 days on an extract warrant.Police attacks mayday demonstration in Russia - 1 death
Special units attacked the 1st of mai demonstration in Russia, Niznij Novgorod. One demonstrator got run over by a military transporter of the special unit OMON, which was suddenly driving into the crowd and the demonstrator was imediatedly dead.There was no reason for this attack on this boring march of the KPRF.
There were no reports in the media, which are all controlled by the state anyway.
