This event is being organised in association with the Bristol Dissent group ( dissentbristol@subsection.org.uk), with proceeds going to help those Bristolians facing charges arising from the anti-G8 protests in Scotland this July (Bristle will take just a small cut to fund future publications).

Bristol Trade Unionist, victimised by management and sacked

Guido, 21-07-2005 00:42

Jerry Hicks, highlyrespected by his workmates.
Management at the Rolls Royce engineering plant in Bristol recently suffered a humiliating clime down when two suspended workers were reinstated after unofficial strike action. Since then they have suspended popular shop steward Jerry Hicks and today they sacked him. This will almost certainly result in ballots for strike action at the plant and the company’s other depots. The pictures below are from Mondays Solidarity demo at the factory gates. Read more | 1 comment >>

Ambrose Musiyiwa, 28-06-2005 00:11

Officials in the Zimbabwe government have publicly said Britain is training spies, mercenaries and agents to destabilise the country and is sending them into Zimbabwe under the guise of returning failed asylum seekers.

On arrival the deportees are invariably met by Mugabe’s secret police, detained, tortured and interrogated. Some of the deportees have not been heard of since. Their families, both in Zimbabwe and in Britain, report that the last they heard of them was that they had been picked up by the secret police.
