Foie gras off the menu in 3 restaurants

Foie gras free Brum | 27.03.2008 00:22 | Animal Liberation | Birmingham

Purnell's, Simpsons and chez jules drop foie gras from their menu after
regular protest.

We have started a Birmingham campaign against every foie gras restaurant we will be listing all of the establishments who are selling this diseased delicacy.

But for the time being here is a letter from Purnell's who removed foie gras from their menu this is the response we recieved tonight:

26/03/08-
As from the 22nd March 2008 (The date when we wrote to them giving them dvd footage of foie gras proctuction~FGFB) Purnell's restaurant has stopped selling foie gras and it will not be shown on its menu.

> If anyone would be willing to attend regular protest against foie gras restaurants in Birmingham then please feel free to contact us, we are always willing for new people to come and help us with our campaign.

Do something meaningful

Instead of picking on small producers of a non-harmful product, why not go and picket Tescos and Primark for selling goods made by child slave labour? Or are people less important than some geese that have a pretty good life compared to the cheap meat available in Tescos?

A great cause for protest!

A non harmful product? Foie gras is disgusting and it's good to see that there are some people out there willing to spare their free time in aiding this cause. Foie gras IS HARMFUL both to the animals within the foie gras production line and also for the people who carelessly eat this delicacy.

The fact that it has been outlawed to produce in the UK says it all.. and offcourse not dismissing there are other causes in this world; as you said child slave labour in PRIMARK and cheap meat sold in Tescos, but if everyone were to blindly ignore these small establishments selling these cruel dishes then they would be able to get away with what they are doing!

People seem to forget also that eating the diseased organs of animals causes health risks, it's scientifically proven that eating foie gras can cause type 2 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and alzheimer's disease! So not only are they fighting for animal welfare they are also struggling to inform the public about the health risks involved.

I say good luck to these people... and the others who are working across the country to stop the importation of these diseased livers! I will certainly be joining them!
