Ecoworks win public vote for Lottery Grant

Claire Peeters - Development Worker, Ecoworks | 25.10.2005 20:46

Latest: Ecoworks have won the Big Lottery Fund's "People's Millions

On Monday 31st October, Ecoworks will be featured on ITV Central News in a competition for funding from the Big Lottery Fund's "People's Millions." We will be up against a project from Leicester for the £50,000 grant. Tune in from 6pm to find out more, and get behind this Nottingham project by casting your vote.

Ecoworks is a community organisation based on St Ann's Allotments in Nottingham. We have already been through two application rounds, and are now going head to head with one other project (from Leicester) - the project with the most votes will receive the £50,000 grant. Please tune in and vote for Ecoworks to support the people of Nottingham and the local environment.

If we are sucessful, the grant will be used to develop The FRESH Centre, our new education/training centre and community market garden on the allotments. The project will teach people all about growing organic fruit and vegetables, and other aspects of sustainable and healthy lifestyles. Our fruit and vegetables will be available to the community at non-organic prices. Through our activities, we aim to improve the opportunities and quality of life for people in St Ann's and the city as a whole, and improve the historic and beautiful St Ann's Allotments Site.

Please get behind Ecoworks and the City of Nottingham by tuning in to ITV Central News on 31st October and casting your vote.... and if you can, please tell your friends and colleagues to do the same. Voting will be inexpensive (and you can vote as many times as you like!!). With your help, we can make this project a reality.

If you would like more information, or would like to help us spread the word about our involvement in this competition, please contact Claire Peeters on 07815 296071 or email claire.peeters@ntlworld.com
