Nottingham theatre production in aid of Pakistan earthquake victims

Forward | 09.12.2005 15:15 | Culture | Globalisation | Social Struggles

We invite you to our new production ‘DEEP IN THE FROZEN NIGHT’ this is a very special performance piece, inspired by and dedicated to the millions of victims of the Pakistan earthquake.

December 17th - 18th, Sandfield College Theatre, Sandfield Centre (opposite Savoy Cinema on Derby Road), Lenton, Nottingham.

We have had a great response from local artists, community members and organisations all from multi cultural backgrounds, who, have volunteered their services and worked tirelessly over the last four weeks to make this production possible and bring you a great new performane piece. We are working collaboratively with Nottingham City Council; all money raised from ticket sales will go directly to the ‘Lord Mayors Earthquake Appeal’.

‘Shani a 19 year old who sees hers self as a urban queen, tough as
nails, and willing to fight anyone for her patch in Sneinton, is about to embark on a journey, which will change her life forever. At a refugee camp-site, somewhere in Kashmir, three virtual strangers Muneeza, Rukhsana and Sakeena are living in denial. Funny and witty this is a heart rending tale of four women’s journey to the truth’.

So far the earthquake has claimed one hundred thousand lives and
rendered four million people homeless. Billions of pounds are needed to rebuild infra structure that has taken fifty years to build. But it
doesn’t stop here; with a harsh winter looming, freezing weather conditions now threaten to claim thousands of more lives.

Dear friends, this is about communities pulling together to bring
relief to those effected by this colossal human tragedy. We hope you will contribute by BUYING A TICKET and coming along with your friends and family to see our fascinating play.
