Camp for Climate Action Nottingham Meeting

Nottingham Climate Campers | 20.02.2006 12:47 | Ecology

7.30pm Tuesday 14th March
@the Sumac Centre, 245 Gladstone St, Forest Fields, Nottingham
Calling all individuals concerned about climate change to find out about the Camp for Climate Action this summer! If you are an artist, permaculturalist, alt-tech nerd, DIY enthusiast, or just interested - come and get involved!

With the government failing and unable to take action on the greatest issue facing our planet, climate change, we have to create a grass roots solution. A huge camp for action around climate change is being planned for the North of England at the end of next summer. We aim to bring together thousands of people to take action against climate chaos and share and live practical solutions.

We will be bringing together all the campaigns, projects and people working on the different aspects of climate change - from compost loo builders to anti-airports campaigners, from proponents of veganism to activists protecting peat bogs - all are needed to make this camp happen.

Campaigners involved in organising the camp are drawn from a wide range of climate campaigns and have been inspired by the self-organised eco-village created in protest against the G8 in Stirling July 2006. They aim to create a space that is organised and run by the participants, has a low impact on the environment, and above all, inpspires people to take action in their own lives and in wider society.

The organisation is starting now and we want as many groups as possible to be involved right from the start. If you are concerned about crazy weather and want to start taking action - join us! If you are unable to attend but are interested in getting involved or finding out more, please contact us as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
