In July this year, the powers that be will release their decision to build 1200 non-sustainable houses across the field around it, building on badger habitats, while once again as hundreds of houses lay empty in the city and surounding areas, it has been decided to dig up greenbelt land :/ - instead of planting trees to make the woodlands bigger

If you feel strongly about this scenario be part of the solution- today, Sharp Hill Wood love you to come contribute and energise;

which is a small dirt road running along side of the cemetery
you will see this to your left when loughbourough rd starts to bend right and climb the hill

From A52 turnleft at ringroad, keep cemetery to your right.
Take the old road which runs up the left side of the cemetery.

Look for a wood.

hurrah!

30.04.2006 21:56

have just returned from a weekend up there,

very nice, especially the sunrise from what I hear.

Unequivocal support from local people, they have helped with providing torchlight, putting up tents and getting firewood.
People are still up there and some kids are joining the camp for the night.

People are very enthusiastic and passionate about the issue; they really cherish the woodland and its habitat and the relative peace and quiet and the views and...they don't want the houses!

Still go-onin, nothing to add but our ideas are fermenting like a big barrel of twisted cider.
People do stupid things everyday, so we are going for crazy. Keep em peeled for a proper update, it's still early days. x

Summer Hill

09.05.2006 22:38

This poem written by me on Sharphill last summer….

Summer Hill

Now ends the longest day,
and in quiet woods
a black feather fallen
on sunlit trails
is summer mystery.

Black, crow black
and sun gold sun,
paint the track
and myriad leaves
just one summer old.

On hill top,
feather skies are turquoise,
dreams harvest a wheatfield,
and a solitary crow and I
keep the day’s cause yet.

Yes quick breeze lifts to
cool the parching dust,
colours flare like refineries
and swifts empty air
for bed.

Night climbs summer hill,
no one stays too long
and later on,
car headlights will
probe the winking suburb.

Don’t build!

Nicks.
