Notts multi-bike ‘Thingy’ stolen

Dean | 22.05.2006 19:24

If you’ve been following the reports on Notts Indymedia you will know about Nottingham’s version of Rinky-Dink that we have been building over several months. (if not see  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/04/337654.html)

Now I’m sorry to have to report that some people stole it from ASBO one night last week. There must have been more than one person involved in order to extract it form the back yard.

To say we are gutted is an understatement. Not only for all the effort and time we’d put into it but also because it was a community resource to be used for all sorts of campaigns and fun events.

It has already been out on the Unison pensions demo, the CND stop trident replacement demo, to Sharp Hill, the May Day March and last month’s Critical Mass, where the sound system really added to the great atmosphere. So, sorry it won’t be at this month’s CM or the Green Festival on 4th June (and frankly the way I’m feeling at the moment neither will I).

We think it is still somewhere around central Nottingham

SO PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR IT and contact ASBO or the Sumac Centre (0845 4589595 or email  sumac@veggies.org.uk) if you see it. Or comment on this item.

I hope that thingy is found and returned, I know first hand how much time and effort went into its "birth" and what great company thingy was and what a fun thing it was to have along with us out and about the place at the many "outings" it had. If you see, it sent it home - we miss it!
