The Final Push to Stop The Expansion of Eastcroft Incinerator

Jon Beresford | 09.06.2006 20:48 | Ecology | Health

The Planning Officer Mike Senior has confirmed to NAIL (Nottingham Against Incineration and Landfill) that the vote on the planning application to allow Waste Recyling Group permision to build Nottingham's third cancer factory, will not be made in June, it will now be put to the vote on 19 July.

This decision will in all probability be put to the vote at the Development and Control Committee meeting on 19 July at the Council House Nottingham.

The Final Push

We have only a few weeks left to lobby those who have the power to say NO, we believe that we have until the beginning of July to finally lobby the Committee to reject plans that will see 250,000 tonnes of waste imported into Nottingham to be incinerated rather than recyelled.

What can you do? Please write, call, email, visit the committee, their details are below. Even if you have done this before, please reiterate your opposition!

Click on this link for more details on how to contact them and to download sample letters to post or email.

In the final push, we intend to deliver thousands of leaflets around Nottingham, but we need your help. Please get in touch if you can possibly help us in any way?

Please join us on 21 June from 1:30 till 3pm in front of the Council House, we intend to meet the Committee as they arrive for their June meeting.

19 July - Final Vote

Approximately a week prior to the final vote, the Planning Officer should make public his report, this will give the committee a recommendation as to whether they should accept or reject the application.

Please put 19 July in your diaries, this will be the date of the final Vote when we intend to meet the Committee as they arrive to vote, this will be the final opportunity to show them the strength of opposition to these ridiculous proposals. Please join us from 12:30 in front of the Council House.
