As usual, we were heavily surveilled by police with cameras, camcorders, and by spotters in black from the roofs of nearby buildings. A sympathetic cyclist was stopped and questioned by police for a while for, urm, cycling. Cars stopping on double yellow lines to let delegates out were not. Draw your own conclusions.
Meanwhile Kirk Jackson, a local anarchist, who'd infiltrated the hall, took off his shirt to reveal anti-war slogans painted on his chest, and proceeded to disrupt Blair's fantasies with a speech on Iraq. "I think the view I was putting across represents the view of many people in this country," he said, "I could have kept quiet, asked a question and got a prepared response from the Prime Minister but I wanted to take a bigger stand."

I appreciate your photos, trouble is they are so big! Have you thought about resizing them?
You can download Finepix viewer from the Internet which allows you to resize photos to fit comfortably into a window.
Here is the link: http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/index.html
Look forward to seeing more of your pics.
In the meantime here are some pictures from last week's Lebanon solidarity protests: http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/07/345869.html
At the bottom there is an excellent set of pictures from Indymedia Israel which has pictures from Basra, Beirut, Chicago, Warsaw, and Paris and many other places.
In solidarity, Paul (Edinburgh Stop the War)

as well.
Photos published on Indymedia should be resized to 500-600 pixles width before publishing.
A free program you can use for resizing is IrfanView, which can be downloaded from here:

Keep up the good work!

And especial credit to Kirk - brilliant! If you don't know him he is, according to the Nottingham Evening Post a 'self-styled' anarchist. unlike Mr Blair who is, presumably not a 'self-styled' child murderer.

Blair pumps out his New Reich memes to a passive audience.

QUOTE
He said that failure to address bad lifestyles was putting an "increasing strain" on the health service, and was hindering efforts to outlaw social inequalities.
UNQUOTE
Did Adolf Hitler say this, or Blair? What was the nature of the 'Hitler Youth' movement? Why did/does Hitler and Blair constantly refer to the hopeless health situation of their population, especially kids, when historically BOTH HAD/HAS THE HEALTHIEST POPULATIONS IN THEIR NATION'S HISTORY?
Let me look a a parallel Blair program- so-called knife crime. Statistics PROVE THERE IS NO INCREASE IN KNIFE CRIME. However, Blair has a governmental blitz of propaganda, based on a program of anecdotal stories (yes ANECDOTAL- this was revealed by a BBC news broadcast, presumably because someone wasn't paying attention). Despite there being no problem, Blair is bulldozing the most amazing laws against the right to self-defense, and criminalising extraordinary numbers of young people.
Hitler was a master of memes (mind ideas pushed into a greater population through the dedicated use of propaganda). Memes are used to control and condition a population. Blair is merely following in his master's footsteps.
The 'fat kid' meme. The 'diabetes II' meme. The 'knife-crime' meme. The 'kids out of control' meme. The 'you are responsible for polluting the Earth' meme. The 'all muslims are uncivilised terrorists' meme. The 'judaism and christianity are peaceful judaic religions' meme. The 'protestors are against free speech' meme. The 'human rights restrict the ability of the police to do their job properly' meme.
What is it that ordinary people are most likely to talk about after swallowing another large dose of Blair's evil words via his mass media propagandists in print or on the air? Lebanon? Don't make me laugh. The police state? Hardly. Look at that list of memes above, and you have most of what 'the great unwashed' will consider to be the important topics of THEIR 'political' discussions.
So we fight, but the vast majority of the population, if they hear anything at all, will hear the details of Blair's speech.
AND THEY WILL HEAR "YOU ARE BAD, YOU ARE BAD, YOU ARE BAD, YOU ARE BAD, YOU ARE BAD, YOU ARE BAD".
What is it that the abusive father constantly says to his wife and kids? What is it that the sergeant major screams at the new 'recruits'? What is the first rule of psychological warfare, when you are breaking down your subjects, so that you can rebuild them as the very best kind of murder machines?
The British nation given lessons by the person responsible for green lighting the Israeli atrocities in Gaza and Lebanon. DO YOU EVER TALK ABOUT ***ANY*** OF THE ISSUES RAISED BY BLAIR AND HIS NEW REICH GOONS. Be honest. Because if you have accepted even one of Blair's memes, you are already a servant of Blair, whether you know this or not.
Like Adolf Hitler, every single act of Blair is designed to bring WORLD WAR closer. When Hitler had the kids dance and exercise in the countryside, it was because he knew the self-same Humans would fight to their last drop of blood on behalf of his Reich. Hitler was 100% evil in his purposes. Blair is 100% evil in his purposes.

"One of the great things about this country is it is a democracy and you are entitled to express your view but I'm also entitled to make my speech."
Yeah..as long as you apply and receive authorisation first if you are in the protest control zone.
Comment on local rag website:
"Well done Kirk Tony Blair is still avoiding responsibility for war and peerages scandals and hear his sinister remark admitting to surveillance as in"we knew you were coming"
and this one:
"We were expecting you, incidentally," the Prime Minister said as the young man was escorted away. See, Kirk I told you they probably picked up that email you sent me. lol
Yes it is indeed sinister - almost an admission that our e-mails (or at least something) is under surveillance. Is this a reasonable conclusion to draw?
