Weatherspoons were telephoned earlier today by concerned nottingham types and they were asked if they understood the potential political and cultural significance of allowing the EDL to openly demo in their pub near the canal this coming Saturday.

The caller was promptly given a HQ number to ring and put through to a customer services complaint manager.
The complaints manager then assured the caller - and thus is assuring all of us concerned "types" - that their premises will not allow entry to anyone "even vaguely" looking like they are part of the EDL.
They have got "police protection around the premises and extra door staff" to turf potential EDL supporters from inside.
The customer services manager then stated that all their properties were operating knowing to ban the EDL on the day.
WE HOLD THEM TO THIS AND IF THEY BREAK THEIR "ASSURANCES" THAN WE COULD TARGET THEM FOR ALLOWING FASCISTS TO OPENLY DEMO IN THEIR PUBS.
THIS WAY WE CAN GET THE EDL ONTO THE STREETS, INSTEAD OF THEM HIDING BEHIND DOORS AND BAR ENTRANCES!

If they allow the assembly of gangs on their premises then it is legitimate to object to a licence renewal. When you complain, let them know it concerns you enough that Gangs are gathering on their premises and that, as a concerned citizen, you will be making your concerns known to the local licencing officials. (see below). Repeatedly allowing Gangs to gather in public houses is, in most cities, viewed as grounds not to renew a public house licence.
Be polite and avoid the aggressive behaviour so frequently seen by the EDL and the licensing service is liable to give you a hearing (if they do they are even helpful enough to provide guidance

If licencees do not give a fuck then there is a mechanism to complain. It might not be a great mechanism - but it will make life harder for EDL instead of wringing yer hands an greetin.
