Friday 28th May - Willmott Dixon Day of Action

National contruction company, Willmott Dixon, are the main contractors for the building of a new animal testing laboratory at the University of Leicester, where thousands of animals will be held and used in cruel experiments.

We can expose that, despite the university's lies, beagle dogs are being held on site at the moment, primate research is being conducted and pregnant animals undergoing experimentation are transported from Leicester to the USA. This is just a snapshot of the ongoing cruelty at UoL, where over 100 animals die every day.

Friday 28th May will be the National Day of Action against Willmott Dixon. Please adopt your local office and hold protests against their involvement in the new lab. If you cannot make it, please politely contact them in disgust or chose any contractor involved, who have sites in your area:

Just called them

13.05.2010 16:36

They dont seem to know what they're talking about. The guy I spoke to said it it the birmingham office doing the contract so would be good to get a big protest there.

Mark Jones

Inaccuracy in article

26.05.2010 13:33

I had a look into this and found that Willmott Dixon have a policy that does not allow the construction of any animal testing facility (with exception to rodents) so your article is misleading.

If the University uses the new facilities for tests on animals other than rodents they would be breaking the contract with Willmott Dixon.

I support your actions but you are targeting the wrong people here, if the university are taking part in this then they should be the target. Companies with policies against testing should not be targeted.

What a genius idea.....

28.08.2010 10:04

Action against a company for being a contract doing a job? Simply brilliant isn't it?? /sarcasm

Am I one of the only people who see's that you are totally missing the mark when you protest individual companies with service level contracts? It doesn't make any sense, if Willmott Dixon pull out, someone else will step in that is how it works. People will always follow the money, this is capitalism.

The average Joe Public certainly doesn't get it when you protest these kinds of companies, so how can you expect to gain a whole lot of support. If you want to protest vivisection (because let's face it it is a horrible practice that needs to stop) then do just that. It's obvious the public are not fond of vivisection that's why there are trademarks like BUAV etc. If there was as much effort put into actually going up against the real culprits with real peaceful protests instead of AR idiots with ego's and "look at me syndrome" and educating the public then more progress would very likely be made.
