Protests at Veolia's sponsorship of Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition

Oxford human rights activists came out in force on the first day of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition at Science Oxford to protest at the sponsorship of the exhibition by multi-national, Veolia. A demonstration in the morning by Oxford Women in Black was followed in the afternoon by one organised by Oxford PSC and the University Palestine Society. Read more >>

Gaza Monologues Screening at the Pegasus Theatre on Friday January 21th 7pm

The event will feature a 30 minute screening of a performance of the Gaza Monologues by Pegasus Youth Companies, Some of the young actors will be on hand to discuss this performance as well as the International performance that they participated in at the United Nations in November. Smash EDO visit Oxford

The fight continues
How to legally cause £300,000 worth of damage: An EDO Decommissioner and Smash EDO activist came to Oxford to discuss the campaign to close a weapons factory that (illegally) supplies key equipment that was used by the Israeli Air Force in the 2009 massacre in Gaza, and is currently being used in other illegal and immoral wars. The fight against EDO continues with Hammertime on 13 October.

Palestinian Child Prisoners - UK Meetings

A national tour to highlight the systematic and institutionalised ill-treatment and torture of Palestinian children by the Israeli authorities, organised by Action for Palestinian Children and supported by Palestine Solidarity Campaign

Mohammad Abu Eid, from the occupied West Bank, was 14 years old when he was detained by the Israeli forces in February 2008 and accused of throwing stones at the Wall. Mohammad was beaten, interrogated in the absence of a lawyer and family member, deceived into signing a confession, prosecuted in a military court and sentenced to four months imprisonment inside Israel. Whilst in prison, he received no education and no family visits.

Mohammad, in the company of his mother, Somaya, will share their experiences with the audience to foster a better understanding of the situation facing Palestinian children.

Drivers who participated in the Viva Palestina aid convoy to Gaza will be telling us about their experience of travelling to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid in the aftermath of the Israeli onslaught earlier this year.

We will also hear about the ongoing importance of this work in the face of the continuing blockade of Gaza and the long term effects of the war.

Gaza Vigil photos

A record number of people gathered in Cornmarket St Oxford on Thursday evening, January 8, to protest against the ongoing Israeli attack on Gaza. All sections of the community were represented and people stood in the cold for two hours with banners, placards and candles, some waving Palestinian flags.
