Amidst the frenzy around Ure and Geldof the other protests are lacking media coverage, not least the calls by groups to blockade the G8 Summit itself.
International Anti-G8 Networking Meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece

From 20 – 22 of May 2005 the Antiauthoritarian Movement (Assembly of Salonica), Greece hosted the International Networking Meeting in Thessaloniki to spark off Dissent against the G8.

Following intense media speculation the plan around the Make Poverty History alligned Live Aid concerts is currently being revealed.The concerts on July 2nd will be used to encourage hundreds of thousands of people to then make the journey up to Scotland for the start of the G8 Summit on Wednesday 6th July.

Media reports that many of the the Make Poverty History wristbands were made in sweatshops...Stop The War Coalition Get Go Ahead for 2 Edinburgh G8 Protests
The Stop The War Coalition have progressed in getting approval for their two protests in Edinburgh around the G8 Summit in July.This is despite The Scotsman Newspaper briefing against them and initial objections from Lothian and Borders police.

Stop The War Coalition announces G8 Demo in Edinburgh Mon 3rd July
Scottish Police Attack Sensationalist Press Over G8 Taser Gun Deployment
Chief Constable David Strang, President of the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland, and Tayside Police Chief Constable John Vine, the officer in charge of policing the summit, have both denied that Taser guns will be deployed against G8 protestors and have attacked the press for being sensationalist, accusing The Scotsman of a "dangerous form of journalism".
JOURNALISTS TO SUE POLICE FOR GENOA G8 VIOLENCE
GENOA - Italy's press union, FNSI, on Thursday said it had joined anti-globalization protestors who are suing 28 police officials accused of brutality during an international summit here in 2001. The union said it was suing the police on behalf of journalists who were beaten and had equipment seized during a raid on the Pascoli school, which was used as an independent press centre during the Group of Eight summit.The G8: A Study in Power (or why people should protest)
