Students stick together for peace

This morning Bradford students took part in one of the most daring and creative acts of civil disobedience ever seen at Faslane Naval base. Ten of them superglued themselves together outside the North Gate whilst another four chained themselves together outside the South Gate, effectively shutting the base.

4 anti-military activists from Spain poured gallons of red paint over themselves

Dancing Spanish Painters Dancing Spanish Painters A group of 15 Spanish activists from five different areas of Spain, all belonging to the Spanish Consciencious Objection Movement, arrived at Faslane for the week-end. With banners, song and dance they protested at the UK's possession and deployment of nuclear weapons.

Anti-Trident Demonstrators Arrested at Faslane, Scottish Parliament and Parliame

Individuals and groups from across the country today denounced Trident as illegal and immoral and called for disarmament of Britain’s weapons of mass destruction in concurrent demonstrations at Faslane Naval Base, Scottish Parliament and Parliament Square. Four people were arrested after blocking the entrance to Faslane, where Trident nuclear weapons are based, while five were arrested after unfurling a banner which read “Whatever They Vote Trident is Still Wrong” on the Scottish Parliament building, and ten people have blockaded Parliament Square.

Friends of the Earth blockades Faslane nuclear submarine base, Scotland

Activists British block submarine base Faslane Naval Base (near Glasgow), Tuesday 2nd January 2007 - A group of 25 activists from the Belgian environmental group "Friends of the Earth Flanders & Brussels" have blocked the British nuclear submarine base since 8am this morning. This morning 8 activists were arrested after nonviolently blocking both main entrances to the base. Amongst those arrested were people from Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and Finland.

Faslane action

Wednesday morning, 7:30am. A dark road somewhere North of Glasgow. Scottish cold and rain beating in my face. I'm chained via a bike lock to Irene, veteran of the Faslane struggle. One arm disappears into a tube, at the other end of which is my mate Steve. There are seven of us, five women and two men, standing in a line stretched across the road.

Faslane Nuclear base successfully blockaded for over 2 hours

Monday the 11th of December saw one of the most successful blockades of the Faslane nuclear submarine base since the start of the Faslane 365 campaign. The blockade was a joint effort between a group of Trident Ploughshares and the crew from Faslane Peace camp.

Nobel Peace Laureate Arrested at Faslane, Scotland

Five people, Mairead Corrigan Maguire, Mark Chapman, Philip Mangold, Ann Patterson and Miriam Turley were arrested by Strathclyde police outside the UK trident nuclear submarine base at Faslane , Scotland on Saturday 9 December at 12 noon. Mairead Maguire is a Nobel Peace Laureate and honorary President of the Peace People . The five were part of a larger group called that had come from Ireland as part of the Faslane 365 campaign to protest against nuclear weapons of mass destruction at the Base. The blockade lasted about 40 minutes while the traffic was slowed down to a single lane. The other members of the group sang songs and shouted words of encouragement while the five were being arrested.

Nativity donkey arrested at Faslane North Gate

A small group of protesters at Faslane Naval base were arrested at around 18:30 for holding a nativity-themed blockade at the North Gate to the base. The group of radical Christians are currently being taken to Clydebank Police Office to be held, presumably until Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.

Brighton blockade for peace

This weekend, from Sunday over to Monday, saw a large group of students from Sussex University travel to Scotland to play their part in the audacious civil resistance initiative, 'Faslane 365', which began on October the first 2006 to apply critical public pressure for the disarmament of Britain's nuclear weapons. Groups from all over Scotland, England, and Wales and beyond have been invitied to come down and shut the base for a period of time suitable to them.

World’s largest weapons inspection as Blair pushes for new N-Bomb

Hundreds of people from across Britain are this
morning marching on the Atomic Weapons Establishment
at Aldermaston in Berkshire. They are converging in
large groups from all directions - by bus, train,
bicycle and on foot - determined to carry out the
world’s largest ever inspection of a nuclear weapons
factory. A big police presence of several hundred
officers is protecting the site.

Red bus departs Manchester for Faslane-1 On Monday 6th November, the Faslane365 double-decker campaign bus set off from Albert Square in Manchester and travel to the Faslane Trident submarine base in Scotland.
