Huntsman guilty

A Somerset man has become the first person convicted for breaking the ban on fox hunting with hounds.
Tony Wright, 52, denied breaching the Hunting Act, when he led the Exmoor Foxhounds on 29 April last year.

But he was fined £500 at Barnstaple Magistrates' Court in a case brought by the League Against Cruel Sports.

He was the first fox huntsman to be summoned to court for defying the law which came into force last year in England and Wales.

Biohazard demo report from Ledbury

Vicious attack by hunt staff and supporters leaves two hunt saboteurs in hospital

A 999 call had to be made for emergency medical help today after hunt saboteurs were viciously attacked by both hunt staff and supporters of the Cotswold Vale Farmers hunt. 23rd July 2005: On a cloudy but warm and dry Saturday afternoon in Oxford, around one thousand animals of the species Homo sapiens assembled in Oxpens Park for a demonstration against the torture and killing of non-human animals in the name of medical "science", and to mark a year since the construction of Oxford University's new vivisection laboratory was halted. There were section 12&14 conditions, speeches in the park, a march to the lab, more speeches outside the lab, and a march back to the park. Cryoservice, a Worcester based company (liquid nitrogen suppliers to Sequani animal testing labs, Ledbury, Herefordshire) gave PACA (who recently 'visited' Cryoservices HQ) 'telephone confirmation' on 21/10/03 of their companys decision to sever ties with the animal abusers Sequani ltd.
