Demonstrations in Qattana
On March 6th hundreds of people from the village of Qattana demonstrated against the Apartheid Wall currently being constructed on their lands. Palestinians from the neighboring villages of Biddu and Beit Surik joined the villagers of Qattana in their protest. The demonstration began shortly after Friday prayers, with the villagers walking en masse towards lands already cleared for the Wall’s path. On the march demonstrators waved Palestinian flags, and called for a stop to the Wall. [More]

Demonstrations in Deir Qaddis
Early on March 4th Occupation bulldozers arrived on the lands of Deir Qaddis, east of Ramallah and started clearing land for the Wall’s path. The bulldozers arrived from the Kiryat Sefer settlement built to the South on village lands stolen previously. Initially villagers attempting to reach the bulldozers were blocked from doing so by troops of Occupation forces, but demonstrators persisted. Eventually the demonstrators were able to reach their lands, with women from the village taking up front line positions, standing ahead of the bulldozers, preventing them from destroying their lands. Demolition and Land Confiscation in Kafur Laqif and Jayyus
On March 3rd, 2004 Occupation forces issued confiscation orders for some 120 dunums of agricultural land in the village of Kufur Laqif in order to construct a settlement road, while at the same time issuing demolition orders for 6 farm buildings in Jayyus. Both orders are directly related to the Wall's construction, and represent further humiliation and hardship for communities already hit hard by the Apartheid Wall. [More]


Worldwide Activism

Resistance to the Zionist Wall of Expulsion in Al Baqa Refugee Camp.
Throughout the last week workers, students, and residents in Al Baqa refugee camp in Jordan have been visiting the Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign photo exhibit which was coordinated with the Jordan Dental Association as part of the growing support throughout Jordan for Palestinian resistance against the racist Zionist Wall. The photo exhibit was opened on Sunday the 29th of February with a grassroots event that hosted a number of speakers addressing the Wall as an element of the continued expulsion of Palestinian from their homeland. Italian activists occupy municipal water and electricity supply division suspected of trilateral agreements with Israel.
On the 25th of January, around 40 activists of the Italian coalition against the Apartheid Wall, following the international call to action issued by PENGON, occupied the offices of the municipal water and electricity supply division Acea in Rome. Part of the national week of mobilization against the Apartheid Wall, the protest was staged in order to oblige the direction of the company to respond to voices about commercial agreements with the state of Israel. Fifth Annual Arts Against the Occupation Exhibit in Tokyo.
The fifth annual Arts Against the Occupation Exhibit is starting at the Chikudo Gallery in Tokyo on March 8th, 2004. The title of this years exhibit is "STOP THE WALL" as an _expression of support and solidarity for the international campaign against the Wall currently being constructed by Israel. The exhibition will exhibit works from previous AAO shows in London, Philadelphia and Montreal, as well as new works by Palestinian, French and Japanese artists. This week's Mainstream Media section continued to follow the suppression of popular Palestinian resistance by the Israeli military, as well as the further isolation of Palestinians by the Apartheid Wall from their villages, farmlands, families, and livelihoods.
