General Predicts Israel Will Attack Iran, Syria, Hamas, Hezbollah this Summer

26-06-2007 21:59 | Lebanon War 2006 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

It is a provocative headline: “Israel braces for July war with up to five enemies.” If we are to believe Israeli military intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin, this attack will be launched by Iran, Syria, Hizbullah, Hamas and, of course, “al-Qaeda,” the database. “Each of these adversaries is capable of sparking a war in the summer,” Yadlin told the World Tribune. In other words, Israel is capable of attacking one or all of these “adversaries,” as Israel has a notorious history of attacking its neighbors under contrived pretense.

More and more Jews reject putting support for Israel over Palestinians

18-04-2007 22:50 | Lebanon War 2006 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Anti-racism | World

It is the solidarity of which I speak that is now being unveiled in pockets across Britain, in universities, unions and most importantly in various Jewish associations. The significance of this reality cannot be over stated. As the status-quo trembles at the shattering of it’s tranquility by those it had claimed as its own even they are aware that any decisive change in Israeli policy will come from within Israel. This development though, has the effect of exfoliating the most powerful of the Israeli government’s protective veneers, the claim, having always given it an aura of moral invulnerability that they and their sponsors abroad speak for Jews everywhere. Such a mass of falsehood and arrogance has come to surround the state of Israel that even the most obvious truths, when they are stated, sound like the greatest of revelations. Here is one that should now be apparent; it is not the state of Israel that makes the Jews, but the Jews that make the state of Israel . . . though even that is but part of the story.

Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran, Nukes, and Western Logic

02-04-2007 00:13 | Lebanon War 2006 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

“Because Iran has built its nuclear plants in deeply buried, hardened facilities, it will be difficult if not impossible.”

Translation: simple high-explosives, depleted uranium, and millions of cluster bombs will no longer do the trick—it is time to nuke the Arabs and Muslims, as “Western logic,” i.e., use of nuclear weapons is unconscionable, does not apply.

Olmert’s Testimony Reveals the Real Goal of the War in Lebanon

14-03-2007 00:06 | Lebanon War 2006 | Palestine | Terror War | World

Israel's supposedly "defensive" assault on Hizbullah last summer, in which more than 1,000 Lebanese civilians were killed in a massive aerial bombardment that ended with Israel littering the country's south with cluster bombs, was cast in a definitively different light last week by Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert.

His leaked testimony to the Winograd Committee -- investigating the government's failures during the month-long attack -- suggests that he had been preparing for such a war at least four months before the official casus belli: the capture by Hizbullah of two Israeli soldiers from a border post on 12 July 2006. Lebanon's devastation was apparently designed to teach both Hizbullah and the country's wider public a lesson.

French UNIFIL Troops "Seconds Away" From Downing Israeli Jet

06-03-2007 22:46 | Lebanon War 2006 | Anti-militarism | World

This is not the first such incident, as Israel violates the cease-fire, Lebanese airspace, and a legally-binding UN SC Resolution on a daily basis. These soldiers are no doubt nervous, as they know that Israel targeted and murdered several UN monitors during their assault on Lebanon, after UN personnel referred to Israel's actions publicly as "War Crimes".

“An American Strike on Iran is Essential for Our Existence”

27-02-2007 14:17 | Lebanon War 2006 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

So now, the Israeli war advocates aver, the US president needs to be helped to do the right thing and attack Iran by lobbyists who will use their power to force the fools in the Democratic Party, especially presidential candidates. Because Americans don’t understand and have to be shaken out of their current skeptical mode.

Obama Embraces Israel “Security” Mythology

16-02-2007 22:02 | Lebanon War 2006 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

In order to be selected to run as president here in the United States, the field of “hopefuls” must pay homage to Israel, AIPAC, and the “New York money men,” as Wesley Clark has noted. Thus senator Barack Obama recently delivered a speech designed “to remove any doubts that the Democratic Party’s donors and constituents, many of whom are Jewish, may have about his support for Israel,” according to Haaretz.

Your Human Right to Hate

16-02-2007 04:01 | Lebanon War 2006 | World

You have a human and animal right to hatred. Man has been described by philosophers and anthropologists as a creature somewhere between an angel and an ape. But irrespective of how idealistic and divine some people and groups think mankind is capable—the fact is we, Homo sapiens, are creatures of animal impulse and ego defensiveness. You have a right to be who you are—a creature of feelings and thoughts and attitudes. Or to put it another way, you have a right to be a “sentient” being which includes the right to experience hatred.

Lebanon Crisis Fails Mediation, Plays into Israeli Hands

30-01-2007 12:07 | Lebanon War 2006 | Analysis | World

By Nicola Nasser*: The crisis in Lebanon is rapidly accumulating the potential to plunge the country in a second civil war, while Israel is closely watching on the sidelines for the right moment to exploit the ensuing security vulnerability and finish the Lebanese divide off by intervening militarily to conclude what it officially describes as the “inconclusive” war last summer.

Why Fisk is wrong about Lebanon

29-01-2007 00:13 | Lebanon War 2006 | Analysis | World

“This is how the 1975-90 conflict began in Lebanon. Outbreaks of sectarian hatred, appeals for restraint, promises of aid from Western and Arab nations and a total refusal to understand that this is how civil wars begin”.
Robert Fisk, “World ignores Signs of Civil War in Lebanon” UK Independent 1-27-07

Robert Fisk is all wrong about Lebanon. The country is not on the brink of another “civil war”. It's been subsumed in an “imperial war” engineered in Tel Aviv and Washington. He’s also mistaken in thinking that the Paris 3 Conference is designed to “save” Lebanon from the mountain of debt which piled up after Israel’s destructive 34 day war. The real purpose of the $7.6 billion in loans is to shackle Lebanon to the international lending institutions that are demanding additional taxes on the poor, more privatization of state-run industries, and restructuring the economy to meet the requirements of the global banking elite.
