Notts Indymedia are pleased to announce the first edition of the Notts Indypendent, an offline community newspaper reporting on local campaigns.

The publication was unveiled at Nottingham's Mayday demonstration. Further copies will be distributed to homes in Nottingham in the run-up to the general election. Copies are also available from the Sumac Centre and the Sparrows' Nest. Alternatively, you can download the pdf copies below and print your own.

Notts Indymedia is pleased to announce a new era of collaboration with the Northcliffe Group, owners of the Evening Post.

The agreement will see content taken from the Indymedia newswire appearing in the Post, opening up the radical message of Indymedia to a larger audience than ever before. In return Indymedia will be able to use images collected by the Post's team of roving cameramen.

Editor of the Post Malcolm Pheby said, "This is great. It will allow us to inform our readers about a part of the city we've historically covered poorly if at all".

It is a controversial decision but the majority of the Notts Indymedia collective think that it is a move in the right direction. "Some people will accuse us of selling out," said one collective member, "but the increased exposure we'll get will be worth it."

Maybe not to everyone's tastes, but this years Glastonbury Festival is in full swing and Indymedia is there to cover the goings on that are relevant to the activist community and to reach out to get people involved and excited about participating in Indymedia collectives around the country. A mobile "Be the media" centre has been provided by the Northern Indymedia collective at the Veggies Catering Campaign pitch in the green futures field and will be running alt-media workshops throughout the weekend in conjunction with IMC Nottinghamshire. Don't hate the media, BE THE MEDIA!

Whilst not everyone's mug of chai, Glastonbury offers a good opportunity to engage with potential new supporters, so several like-minded crews will be hanging out in the Green Fields and welcome your support.

Volunteers from local radio project Riseup! Radio have deserted the streets of their hometown to check out the goings on in London surrounding the G20 meeting of global political elitists.

Here is the latest from the register about the arrest related to the latest imc server seizure. The arrested man is a sys admin who hosted several servers including the indymedia server. Riseup! Radio presents the December show.

On Saturday November 1st, Riseup! Radio are hosting a skillshare for making and sharing audio recordings. Here’s an outline of what the day will look –and sound like.

Riseup Radio is a community based podcast from Nottingham, UK. Reports on stuff that didn’t make other local media, music from local artists and bands and chatting about stuff that matters. We’re currently working on a monthly show, downloadable from the first day of each month. Download, listen, distribute, comment and contribute!

There will be a meeting on Mon 20th Oct, 7pm, Sumac Centre to discuss the future of Notts Indymedia. It will be a great opportunity to shape how the project works and input to the design of the new site. Please come along and have your say.

Some folks involved in a community based radio project called riseup! radio will be meeting for a chat and a social drink this Thursday, September 11th at the Sumac Centre in Forest Fields.

For a variety of technical problems the amazing resourse that was IMC-RADIO was gone from us, which meant that people all over the world could no longer publish their audio, access and listen to old audio, click on the site to get quickly directed to audio nodes and news from all over our little planet.
