Support Mayday Monopoly ! Support Farmers Resistance !

Comrade Vathek | 02.04.2001 15:12

Condemn raids on Anarchist Hq !
Condemn Blair's travesty of Democracy !

Red Star Bulletin:

"The intolerable current situation is degenerating by the day. What remains of a constitution is vanishing as we speak, Blair prances about the countryside side-by-side with the military and resistance groups are selectively but ruthlessly crushed. The appalling raid on the Button Factory in South london has been at least tempered by the news that farmers in Wales are stepping up opposition to the slaughter: near Brecon (Aberhonddu) a group of protesters took to the lanes objecting to the establishing of a mass animal execution site. One man in particular took it further and commandeered an earthdigger, crushing two police vehicles as he went.
If the Blair regime intend to cancel local elections set for May, it stands on the edge of illegality: having done it once on a flimsy pretext, it will be easier next time.
The Mayday Monopoly plan is eminently creative. The plan, (as we understand it from leaflets) to converge on Oxford Circus at 4pm will have a substantial effect, no matter how the police respond. They have, however, warned that they will stage a much more robust response than in recent years and we must be careful. Study a street map and familiarise yourself with the surroundings. To the north west of the station is Finsbury Sq, and the pleasant Hanover Sq is just to the south east. The police may attempt to push protesters from the crossroads into these parks. To the north, on Regent St, is a BBC HQ. The approach to Hanover Sq from the south is wide, but it is uphill. To the south east is Soho and Carnaby Street: if we have to retreat altogether, we may find some degree of support there from the small cafes and sex shop workers. Above all, each group must decide what their actions should be: do not bring anyone with you who is not able to comprehend the nature of the protest: no small children or aging grannies ! "

Actually...

Actually, I think its called Cavendish Sq, not Finsbury Sq. But its there all right, and so is Hanover Sq, right behind Oxford Circus. Yes, there's a possibility for them to be used by the police in the way described above.

Anarchist HQ!!???

sigh - contradiction in terms and repetition of mainstream media bollocks

any old anarchist

eh?

03.04.2001 13:40

There's quite a few aging grannies out there who understand more than most what the nature of mayday is - and don't need anyone else to bring them to an action (see Schnews 145)

gerontocracy

03.04.2001 17:09

gerontocracy. [that is, rule of the old] there may be a serious point to the bit about "aging grannies". it seems to me that the rights of the young are being trounced by the privleges of the old. old people should accept that their lives, and their chances to change things, are ending. being middle aged now, i intend to retire gracefully, and let the young take the initiative !

not important

The Rule of Law!

04.04.2001 00:49

Whenever T.B appears on T.V, he is either flanked by two army brigadiers or he's outside Downing St. with a policeman strategically placed behind him, as he tells the country, like some trumped up little Dictator, "what MUST be done!" Even if you do not support the government, he says, "we MUST all unite" (while he divides us) "we MUST all pull together" (while he drives us apart.) But I think the message is being received, loud and clear, Britain is a Fascist Police State, and submission to orders IS the law!!

The day is done

08.05.2001 14:02

Now the day is done and the media have hailed the police operation a huge success (besides mentioning that we closed most of the west end for a day costing them £20 million in lost business) we should start thinking about how to combat goverment propaganda the next time round, about how to stop the powers that be from influencing the course of events towards violence to sideline the issues.
One thing that really struck me on the day..one of the few people I saw throwing bottles was a masked up kid wearing the full complement of Nike trainers, Kappa sweatpants, GAP hoody and Addidas baseball top -obviously someone who has real concerns about globalisation and multi-nationals!
