Sadly, censorship like this is probably the norm by now.

I'd consider sueing for misrepresentation - if your name appears as the author of anything that you didn't write in full. I think the law allows for 'editing' where editing consists of minor line adjustments and grammatical corrections. Editing does not include full scale rewrites WITHOUT the author's permission. Look into it.

terrible tale. is the encyclopaedia an academic product? might it be possible to get clarification about the extent of 'academic freedom' from the senior members of any university involved, and/or perhaps union support?
what does your lead editor now say about what is happening?
have you had any mainstream press interest in this story - what did they say? I will tell everone I know about this...

This Encyclopedia is a corporate product, published
by Fitzroy Dearborn Publishers, London. However,
virtually all of the contributers are scholars,
academics, or professors.

So far, I have not received any answer to my complaint
about this issue. I am currently trying to network with
other contributors to the Encyclopedia.

As to news coverage, I just started sending out
messages to listservs, newsgroups, mailing lists,
fellow contributors, and indymedia just yesterday.
If anyone has any suggestions as to whom I should
send this news, let me know.
