Criminalization of the Black Bloc - State wins the match!

La Battaglia | 24.07.2001 11:24

Agents of the government tried to disrupt the movement by difamating one of the most combative parts of the global resistance... that's it. It´s time to take a stand. We won´t let you destroy our grassroots work (that´s for the police who's reading this article).

Criminalization of the Black Bloc – the State wins the match!

Well, we see a lot of confusion and misinterpretation about the actions and aims of the Black Bloc. We saw it become more evident after the obvious service of the Italian Intelligence to disrupt the anti-capitalist movement. Next, I myself, after a long time of research, practice and contact with another usuaries of this strategie, will try to explain in a very crass way, why is so convenient to the Goverment to put this combative part of the movemente in evident blaming point...

First, the Black Bloc has an anarchist/libertarian inspiration... therefore, we don´t have leadership nor we want one; we are not violent, NOT VIOLENT... why they see violence in our actions and not in the State violence? They have weapons, they finance wars, they spend thousand and thousands of dollars in repression aparatus and we are the violent ones? Even if our modus operandi MOST evident (smash private property) seems childlish or stupid is done for political reasons. Just reminding that the Black Bloc doesn´t resume itself to private property destruction.

About Genoa, we saw an attempt to criminalize the Black Bloc for its intention to "sabotage" the movement. We saw the intrigues grow when the Tute Bianches received a mail bomb and grow even more when the Governments and the corporative Media blamed the Bloc for ALL the violence in Genoa. Now, let's analyze it and remember that the Italian Intelligence have been there to disrupt movements as the Autonomia Italiana in the past decades.
They took advantage of the fact that the Black Bloc has no leadership, affiliation program or certificate of anarchist resistance... so, agents of the government, in my opinion, infiltrate in the Bloc, called the other groups to a more "violent" action and started to trash the town. So, after destroying all the fucking city, they had the excuse to raid and invade places (like the IMC center and the school across the street)... "we are looking for 'members' of the Black Bloc". It seems to be pretty convenient... with men dressed in black (false Black Bloc'ers) and protected by the Carabinieri (like we see in many pictures and hear in many testimonies) they trash the town, sow the seeds of dischord between demonstrators (Tute Bianche vs. Black Bloc ... Pacifists vs. Black Bloc) and use this as a move to divide the anti-capitalist movement and pretext to accomplish illegal searches, to beat people even harder AND gives arguments to the corporate media, governments,right-wing policies to call us "hoolingans" (one of their favorite sports so far). It´s a combo, a POLITICAL COMBO!

I do think that the Black Bloc has its mistakes and had its mistakes, but I do believe that is an effective strategie in demonstrations not just to its usuaries but to all the demonstrators (as one of the most principal aims of the Bloc: promote security and solidarity between people). Let´s not fall on the media trap... that´s all they want: desinformate people and weaken the movement. They did it all on purpose... threw the Bloc into the pacifists demonstration (read Starhawk´s report), sent a mailbomb to the Tute Bianches and etc.
You can´t blame the Black Bloc for what THEY (agents of the goverment) did. We can DO work on the improval of the tactic, so in the next events, we won´t fall on the same traps that THEY set us up. They are the violent ones, not us. Susan George and the reformist ATTAC may disagree with it but that´s a fact.
