RELEASE NICOLA AND RICHARD

Nicola Doherty and Richard Moth, two Globalise Resistance members, have been arrested by Italian Police after the Genoa protests at the weekend. Both work with adults with severe disabilities and are members of Unison trade union. Nicola was on her first demonstration. Neither were involved in any violence during the protests in Genoa.

I understand that Globalise Resistance/SWP want to look out for their own people but how about using your contacts to appeal for everyones release for example the UK IMC guy with the collapsed lung

Also be careful about this 'peaceful' protesters stuff , can sound like others were not peaceful and its ok for them to be held.

Everyone arrested should be released

i completely agree with oneoutallout, i would like to see our socialist sisters and brothers trying to fight for the release of all the prisoners held illegally, not just their cohorts...

Fair point on that. I just posted the e-mail I received from the office about the appeal, but I have just sent them an email along the lines of the comments you made.

It is interesting how you put "Globalise Resistance/SWP" - our group in Leeds has 2 SWP members, over 8-10 are not affiliated with any political party (myself included). We operate autonomously and will work with any groups on our side.

of course we should have unity, the difficulty is that people in the GR office don't know/or have info on the other people, whereas we are directly responsible for our own members, also we are having a difficult enough time just getting info on Rich and Nicola, we've just heard they've been charged. :-(((

So please people let's get everyone out on the demo at the Italian embassy on Saturday 2pm, nr Grovesnor Square.

The hospitals just say they don't have records of the other people aside from Mark Cavell (latest on him is the headline on Indymedia - he has had surgery, "can walk now" and sounds like he's still under armed guard)... This may be because of confused spelling of "Dan MacQuillan/ McQuillan" in his case. That is why there's so little information about them.

Conversely, the hospital has recorded having a Brit called "Canaghan", and I can't find any information about who he is.

And Big Up to Globalise Resistance, who have been heroes in organising the train in the first place, etc. :0)
