COMMUNIQUE TO ALL TO REVOLUTIONARIES AROUND THE WORLD

Red Martyr | 12.09.2001 03:41

Revolutionaries around the world must unite in endorsement of this justified attack on the world's tyrant; the United States of America.

Comrades around the world,

In the words of the CIA, the operations which took place on U.S. soil were "regrettable".

For 60 years, the United States has carried attacks upon people for their dominance, greed and evil in the world.

People die every day in the third world as a result of U.S. imperialism and U.S. financial and military interests, but it is not enough to make our daily news coverage.

It seems that the only people worthy of news reporting are North Americans, we must understand the nature of these attacks and the nature of the U.S. corporate media. We must understand that the rhetoric and posture of the U.S. government is pure and unforgivable hypocrisy!

The offensive carried on the World Trade Center, was a political act of retaliation against world capital and U.S. imperialism, the highest stage of capitalist repression.

The offensive carried on the Pentagon, was a political act of retaliation against evil minds and intelligence used to torture, oppress, cause misery, poverty and havoc throughout the world.

This is the result of its very own U.S. foreign policy throughout the world.

U.S. economic disintegration is being compensated by military rearmament, spending and intervention, in a New World Disorder.

The U.S. gets a taste of its own medicine, and only shows signs of "humanity" when it itself feels pain, but not when the oppressed of the world do, including those who live within the empire.

I call upon fellow revolutionaries around the world to unite with all allies fighting the U.S. empire and intensify its resistance against world capitalism in the wake of the world anti-captialist movement; in full force; without retreat or surrender; with all justification and understanding.

We must take full advantage and escalate resistance.

We must reaffirm our ideological standpoints, whatever they may be, unite, and fight the common foe.

To our comrades in the United States:

We call upon you to educate the oppressed and manipulated masses, rally and protest against U.S. intervention, aggression and imperialism. Against U.S. military aid in the third world and its acts of reprisal and discredited counterinsurgencies.

We call upon you to rally, protest, and demonstrate against your oppressor, explaining the meaning of U.S. foreign policy and resist and fight against agents of imperialism and manipulators who seek to mobilize the weak minded and ideologically poisoned to support an already dying and falling evil empire. An empire that is in decay.

We must all understand the actions and rhetoric taken by the United States is an act of intimidation against world resistance to its empire. We must persevere and continue and not be shaken in any way.

This is what revolution looks like. This is reality. Have courage and strength, righteousness is on our side.

LONG LIVE THE WORLD ANTI-CAPITALIST MOVEMENT!

DOWN WITH THE U.S. EMPIRE!

Not my movement

12.09.2001 08:46

I despise US economic and military dominance. I despise the killings that the US government initiate and subsidise. But, I condemn this atrocity.

This is not the logical conclusion of the anti-capitalist movement. This is (most likely) the attempt of one fundamentalist ruling elite to destroy another.

This is not in any way, shape or form, what a real revolution should look like. A real revolution must be based on massive social and political empowerment of the majority of the citizenry.

The mass majority of those murdered in these buildings are our comrades. The temporary staff working on minimum wages. The office clerks, the cleaners, the bored security guards etc etc are exactly the people we are supposed to be fighting for and with.

Attacking the ruling elite is a justifiable use of force but never the killing by one power of the innocents of another power. As soon as we start talking about 'colateral damage' and 'friendly fire' we are no better than the US government.

Condemn the US policies, yes. Fight to build a mass movement of the people to overthrow the state, of course. But we must condemn all forms of violence perpetrated to increase the dominance of the few.

After Capitalism

12.09.2001 09:54

Only if Capitalism is destroyed through argument, disobedience and non-violent direct action will it be worth it. If bobms and terror is used to defeat capitalism, its replacement will only be as bad.

You will only harm the movement...

12.09.2001 10:54

By associating your grievances US Foreign Policy and Global Capitalism with this horrific act of violence, you will only succeed in discrediting the movement.

Who are you allying yourself to? All anti-capitalist and Anti-U.S groups worldwide? That would include American Far Right sects, Islamic Fundamentalists, and every extremist political and religious group hell bent on destroying freedom, diversity and personal expression.

Don't mix the issues up. Let us see who admits to this crime and what was their motivation before jumping on a violent bandwagon heading for international war.

There are plenty of reasons to get mad at the USA, especially with a spineless fool like G.W.B in charge, but to take sides in a situation like this will simply have you branded as extremists and lose any sympathy ordinary, rational people have for your cause.

Whilst I despise the US, I also am very sad at yesterdays events. However, the US has been killing myriad civilians for far too long. There is a point when you come to realise that the only way to tackle a vicious, violent state is with violent methods. This should be the beginning, we need one, two, many Vietnams!

Are you all insane?

12.09.2001 11:14

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that there are a lot more really crazy people in this movement than I had initially realised.

Are you really and truly condoning the slaughter of thousands of innocent people? Because they are innocent...just because they don't know the things that you do, or happen not to believe them, I doubt very muchthat the majority of the dead were consciously oppressing anyone. They were just working in the environment in which they were born. That makes them blind, perhaps, but not worthy of horrific deaths! If this movement will not value human life, and feel sorrow when it is lost, BOTH in Africa/Palestine/Genoa AND America, then I want no part of it.

Grow up, and examine your attitudes....the slaughter of humans is never something to rejoice about.

Working Class Americans Do Not Deserve This

12.09.2001 11:29

The US has acted with continued arrogance and violence across the world in defence of its economic interests. This includes the mass murder of scores of innocent civilians, on an almost daily basis in Iraq. Such disregard for life and international democracy has nothing to do with the 'freedom' that President Bush hypocritically proclaimed yesterday. The Capitalist media rarely show US attrocities abroad and never in terms of issues of freedom or democracy. The ideological assumption that saturates reports of US imperialism in the mass media is that if America bombs or attacks a nation then that nation is neither free or democratic, while supposedly the US is. However, despite this nobody who call themselves a socialist can justify the horrendous murder of thousands of ordinary people, many of whom probably hate the US establishment as much as the rest of the world. Over 300 firefighters died in the attack, alongside thousands of working class people;janitors, cleaners, low grade office clerks, caterers etc. We all sprung a smile when the symbol of the US military, the Pentagon, was destroyed but what about the innocent people caught up in the attack? This whole affair simply highlights the absolute futility of terroism and how far elitist religious fanaticism is from true class liberation. The result of this attack will be thousands more deaths of innocent arab people as the US and it's Blairite lapdog bomb the middle east and a convienient state led clamp down on all opposition to the capitalist state including unrelated dissidents and anti globalisation protestors. Finally this event will be used to justify the further expansion of the son of star wars project.

As Socialists we must learn our own lesson from this trajedy - We must be ready to oppose any imperialist revenge by the US and the UK but we must also oppose elitist fundamentalism and religious fanatacism which pose just a great a threat to our final goal of revolution.

ONLY MASS CLASS ACTION WILL TOPPLE US IMPERIALISM NOT ELITIST TERRORISM!

We're not insane

12.09.2001 11:45

Uh no I don't think hardly any of us are insane, hence why this statement was strongly refuted by just about everyone. Those responsible for this attack (including the US government, as this type of thing is a predictable consequence of their policy) have no "respect for human life and democracy", as Blair put it.

Blair himself has just been on TV saying he expects the US to retaliate heavily, but that he has no clue what form this retaliation will take, nor is he sure who is behind the attacks. Despite this, he says he will give the US his full support and will try to rally support from other NATO countries. All this and he still hasn't spoken to Bush!

Idiot

12.09.2001 12:03

Anyone who celebrates an act of war like this has no place in a movement fighting for freedom and a better world.
This is just another example of the suffering inflicted on people everywhere by rulers and would be rulers, and doubtless will be followed by more suffering inflicted by the U.S., last night Richard Holbroke listed the possible targets for reprisal as North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Libya and Afganistan (talking about uniting with Russia for this too, the hypocriscy of a joint American/Russian attack on Afganistan is mind bogoling).
The British Empire, the equivalant of the U.S. in it's day, was largely destroyed by German and Japanese Imperialism. Should we then have supported German and Japanese Imperialism? I am amazed and shocked that this argument is actually taking place. What would someone who lost people in this atrocity think if they saw this crap. Does supporting indiscrimanate violence against Americans not constitue racism, in which case why is this post on indymedia????

Straighten out

12.09.2001 12:47

It's true that terrorism has become a devalued term because people often use it to demonise their enemies rather than construct rational argument, but the fact remains that killing innocent people has nothing to do with liberation, progress or building a better world. Yes, the US, Britain and other developed nations have targetted and killed innocent people, but we oppose their actions and justifications - so why do we have such a problem here?

If it's that old "my enemy's enemy is my friend" scene, then we should reflect on the fact that those former enemies of America's enemys who were trained and financed by America are now expressing support for the attack.

Instead of floundering around playing tin-pot revolutionaries and seeking to jam events into a particularly rigid world view, anyone with a truely progressive outlook will be trying to inject some reason and cool-headedness into the situation.

This means challenging the endless speculation about 'who did it?' which, in the absence of any hard facts, serves simply to fuel bigotry and xenophobia, and possibly to drive more people into the embrace of the extremists. If it's not confirmed, it's not news we say - and the mainstream media should stop running supposition and empty theory so incessantly it becomes fact.

It means telling Tony Blair that we don't "stand shoulder-to-shoulder with America" if America insists on pursuing a course of action which amounts to the indiscriminate bombing of any country it decides may, yes that's may, have anything to do with yesterday's attacks, or even which insufficiently condemns them. What surer way is there than this to prolong madness, reaction and fear? It beggers belief how politicians can spout this rubbish and still maintain any support.

If Bush, Blair and co push ahead with such a policy, how is that not terrorism?

And it's true we have to look at why the attack happened, as a direct counter to the establishment's push to reduce our liberties and stoke up the war machine. But understanding why America was attacked does not equate with supporting the mass murder of innocent people. Those in our midst who try to position us behind such acts misrepresent our worldview and isolate us from wider support.

True progressives need to challenge and refute this as strongly as we need to challenge and prevent the coming drive to war and crackdown on liberties.

War, Death and Technology

12.09.2001 13:07

I am glad that the consensus seems to be horror and revulsion at the mayhem created by as yet unidentified persons in New York and Washington.

But we as a society have to face a deeper problem. Every day, thousands (perhaps tens of thousands) die of war, starvation and preventable diseases. I do not endorse the simplistic view that a US-dominated military industrial elite is uniquely responsible for such matters. The truth is far more uncomfortable - all of us in the wealthy G8 nations (not to mention local elites) have a hand in this carnage.

It seems to me that when a million people die as a result of the civil war in the Congo, people pay scant attention. Yet when a thousand die in a plane crash or a bombing, it is 24-hour international news. The truly horrifying fact may be this - human life and death seems only to attract the world's attention when it occurs in relation to technology (and preferably contains dramatic pictures). How can we recover a sense of empathy with all the world's victims, including those killed by unseen forces?

The answer is: by building an internationalist movement based on hope, love and charity. Yes, we are fighting a war against the capitalist "system". Our weapons need not be sticks, stones, and bottles. A sense of decency, an independent mind and a courageous heart are better.

Anarchist Rioter

Not Liberal

12.09.2001 13:12

It is not a liberal bandwagon, it is a class struggle posistion, as the slogan goes "We hate the bosses, we hate their wars". That goes if the bosses are white, red, black, yellow or brown. It applys if the bosses rule in the name of the Aryan race, Democracy, the Proletariat, or Allah.
This was an attack by one capitalist force on another (with lot's of innocent people dying as per usual), thus ending the oppression in the Middle East does not come into scenario in any way shape or form. People in the Middle East (as with wage slaves and peasants the world-over) are oppressed by ALL governments, both Zionist ones and Islamic ones, both ones backed by the U.S. and ones opposed by the U.S. . Yes the suffering inflicted on the Palestinians is immense but a look at Iran, the Sudan or Afganistan will show that life under the Islamic bosses is also oppression.
The 'Attack on America' is the same as America's Attacks.
Furthermore this action will only make more suffering as it produces reaction.

NO WAR BUT THE CLASS WAR.

Common Sense

12.09.2001 14:14

If global capitalism is to be fought, then support must be won for that fight. Ordinary Americans need to join in the fight.

Citing this particular act as a part of anti-capitalist revolution is pure folly. It will alienate millions of well-meaning individuals that might otherwise be interested in participating.

International media give all the wrong emphasis to similar atrocities around the world. People are not always encouraged to feel sympathy for the victims of mass murder.
But people who abhor death, destruction and violence will be rightly shocked by the attack on the World Trade Centre. They will not respond to a rallying call that glorifies that act.

What is necessary is for the hypocrisy of the US to be pointed out. This act has to be put in a context; it is easier to understand when all the global atrocities that the US govt has had a hand in are pointed out.

But global revoluton will not succeed via such acts of terror. Many of the victims of this attack were ordinary working people who could be won to a stance against capitalism.

Fight the inevitable racism that will now occur. Counter the glorification of the US government. But don't glorify this terrible act.

Clare Sudbery

how far up your arse is your head?

12.09.2001 15:08

cleaners, office temps, firemen, nursery nurses, janitors, receptionists, catering staff, maintenance staff, delivery drivers - and all the poor fuckers on the aeroplanes.

Are these enemes of the global working class?

Is killing all these people O.K because it hurts the American State?

thats the exact mirror of their argument for bombing Dresden, Hiroshima and Baghdad.

No amount of blind dogma can justify killing innocent people. For fucks sake - I thought that's what we were oppossed to.

Kakatim

Righteousness my arse

12.09.2001 15:33

This is not righteous. Yes, the US has a lot to answer for, but righteousness is not on your side if you are a fanatic that supports mass killing. Get a grip.

Not Like You

Nonsense

12.09.2001 15:43

If I disagree with US policy and the capitalist system it does not mean I support mass murder against ordinary civilians - What possible beneficial result could this action achieve? None.

ChrisC

who did what?

12.09.2001 15:51

I agree that it is a tragedy the workers in the buildings, the fire fighters and the other people killed on the plane (I am sorry about this but I don’t care that much about the people in the Pentagon). But bombing has historically showed that it unites people behind a nation/leaders. The RAF in WW2 knew this, that why they carried on bombing Germany right until the end of the war because they did not want a repeat of the revolution of WW1. And there the up to date case of Iraq.

As a movement we have got to respond to our governments with an independent position. We condemn the death of innocent people but we condemn the acts of revenge by US/UK etc.

P.S. The main stream Media must think we are stupid, The 4th plane that 'crashed' in the forest was shot down by the US Air Force.

Changing the world

12.09.2001 20:32

I think everyone agrees that the killing of thousands of innocent people is wrong, but get beyond death and we have a massively symbolic event which is polarising world opinion. Sensationalist propaganda in the corporate and government controlled media is enabling the governments of the 'civilised' world, especially America, to have carte blanche on policies which are as criminal as the one perpatrated on them. On all sides are conspiracy theories and none of it really matters...all the speculation is a smokescreen. What kind of news are we after? The reporters yesterday were constantly asking for the death toll. Do they think its a film? Is Hollywood going to get the bad guy?
In truth it's time to stop all of this. People all over the world are sick of having their opinions polarised and officiated by the media and the government. Indeed, if you are not careful the 24 hour news bulletins watched repeatedly will form all your opinions for you, and then we can all get into a big argument and fight over facts and details and rubbish and forget the bigger picture. People in America do not want war but that is what is being put into their mouths. The footage on the news showing palestinians 'celebrating' the attack on America was transmitted into homes and stadiums across america causing so much reactionary hatred and anger. A friend of mine said that he'd seen that footage before and it was actually library footage of a palestinian festival. This can't be backed up, but to be honest the net effect is the same...it is manipulation. To say that nobody in the world celebrated the attack would also be wrong but the fact that this footage was shown so regularly during and after the event is inflammatory and insensitive. I think most of the people looking on this site will be looking for a truth they believe they cannot find in the 'official' media. The official world is not the real world. The youth of the world need to tune in to love and peace and here and now reality. Love is an energy without condition, Love thy Neighbour now. For what it's worth, though this will probably cause much disagreement, I believe that to help heal the world we will enter a new stage of spirituality and understanding about ourselves and our universe...is this a time of reawakening or is it the beginning of the end? At the end of the day we decide, and we must realise that it is each one of us individually who must and will decide for the best, no matter what we are told.

blah blah blah

13.09.2001 00:54

the sentiment is similar in the u.s. (indymedia discussions)as that represented generally throughout this discussion, only there is, at least in my head, a straining tension between support of "my people", shock and denouncing of the actions, and a wondering what will happen next...maybe this is what is necessary...how to prepare against coming restrictions...secret joy that someone had the guts to do it...intense compassion...how to avoid a draft?...overactive imaginations up late at night discussing WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. it is odd to feel afraid of your government, while everyone around you carries their mute faith on their sleeves.
