Ganja Day is in trouble – can you help?

This years international annual cannabis march and festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday 4th of May in Brockwell Park, Brixton.

Last year 15,000 people turned up despite pouring rain to celebrate ganja and protest against prohibition. This followed on from the two previous years successful festivals and has ensured Ganja Day’s status as an important, popular, community event.

The cannabis debate is at last bearing fruit in UK, much of this is due to what has been going on in Lambeth. The debate is at a key stage at the moment as to whether we get decriminalisation or the Dutch model of legalisation. The key difference here is that the Dutch model leads to 75% less heroin addicts per head of population. We need a large and loud march and festival to make our point clearly in favour of the Dutch model.

Due to last years torrential downpour the festival lost money. We now need around £12,500 to ensure that the event goes ahead. We need £6,000 of this by the end of March.

So this is a shout out to all who smoke the holy herb to help in any way possible. We have a range of sponsorship available, from on-stage banners, programme advertising, stage sponsorship etc. This is a widely publicised event featured on the major TV news as well as in a wide range of publications. We confidently expect thousands to attend the festival on the day based on the last three years attendance.

Talk to your boss, your rich mate or your wallet, this could be a valuable opportunity for a young, dynamic company to reach a difficult market. Alternatively all donations will be more than gratefully received, every little helps and will ensure the success of the festival. Any other fundraising ideas are appreciated, anyone who can help with benefits, collections etc please get in touch.

We are also operating a loans scheme, whereby anyone who can help to lend the festival money now will be paid back immediately on the day.

We need to push for legalisation now, whilst many think the battle has been won Britain’s foremost medical cannabis campaigner (Colin Davies) is in jail and Tony’s Hemp Corner is facing criminal prosecution. The march and festival are more important than ever before to show we will not accept a system whereby the police can break down your door, fine you, lock up your dealer, search your house, get you sacked etc. These will all remain possibilities even when cannabis has been downgraded to Class C.

Thanks for your time and see you on the day

One love
