30 Little-Known Facts About Israel

30 Little-Known Facts About Israel

1. Did you know that non-Jewish Israelis cannot buy or lease land in Israel? A Jew from any country in the world is guaranteed citizenship in Israel, while the Palestinians who have been there for centuries are oppressed and persecuted.

2.Did you know that instead of sewing an insignia on clothing to distinguish race (like the Germans did to the Jews before WW2), Palestinian license plates in Israel are color coded to distinguish Jews from non-Jews?

3. Did you know that East Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza, and the Golan Heights are all considered by the entire world community, including the United States and the United Nations, to be occupied territory and NOT part of the State of Israel?

4. Did you know that Israel allots 85% of the water resources for Jews, and the remaining 15% is divided among all Palestinians in the territories? For example in Hebron, 85% of the water is set aside for about 400 Jewish settlers, while the remaining 15% is distributed among Hebron's 120, 000 Palestinians?

5.Did you know that the United States awards Israel $5 billion in aid each year from American tax dollars?

6.Did you know that US aid to Israel ($1.8 billion annually in military aid alone) exceeds the aid the US grants to the entire African continent? This aid is used both to buy American weaponry and to buy arms made in Israel.

7. Did you know that Israel is awaiting an additional $4 billion worth of American military hardware, including new F-16s and Apache and Blackhawk helicopters. As Israel's main ally and supporter internationally, the United States is committed to maintaining the Jewish state's "qualitative edge" in weapons over its neighbors.

8. Did you know that the U.S. administration has notified Congress on numerous occasions that Israel has violated the rules on how US-supplied weapons are used? (In 1978, 1979 and 1982 during fighting in Lebanon, and once after Israel's bombing of an Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981.)

9. Did you know that Israel is the only country in the Middle East that refuses to sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and bars international inspections from its sites?

10. Did you know that high-ranking military officers in the Israeli Defense Forces have admitted publicly that unarmed prisoners of war have been summarily executed by the Israeli forces?

11. Did you know that Israel blew up an American diplomatic facility in Egypt and attacked a US warship in international waters (the USS Liberty), killing 33 and wounding 177 American sailors and the US did nothing about it? (Imagine if an Islamic country like Iraq did this!)

12. Did you know that Israel stands in defiance of 69 United Nations Security Council Resolutions?

13. Did you know that Israel is explicitly dedicated to the policy of maintaining a distinct Jewish character?

14. Did you know that Israel's current Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, was found by an Israeli court to be "personally and directly responsible" for the Sabra and Shatilla massacre in Lebanon where more than a thousand innocent Palestinian men, women, and children were axed to death or lined up and shot in cold blood?

15. Did you know that on May 20, 1990, a group of unarmed Palestinian laborers were lined up and murdered by an Israeli solider as they sat waiting for transportation back to Gaza? The terrified laborers who gathered in an area of southern Israel known as Rishon Lezion (known to Palestinians by its Arabic name Oyon Qara) handed their ID cards to the Israeli soldier. The soldiers ordered the distressed laborers to kneel down and face the ground and unexpectedly showered them with a barrage of bullets, killing seven and wounding many others. Needless to say, the soldier was not charged with any crime.

16. Did you know that until as recently as 1988, Israelis were permitted to run "Jews Only" job ads?

17. Did you know that the Israeli Foreign Ministry pays six US public relations firms to promote a "positive image" of Israel to the American public?

18. Did you know that Sharon's coalition government includes a party--Molodet--which advocates ethnic cleansing by openly calling for the forced expulsion of all Palestinians from the occupied territories?

19. Did you know that recently-declassified documents indicate that David Ben-Gurion approved of the forced expulsion of Arabs from all Palestininan territory in 1948?

20. Did you know that the former chief rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Ovadia Yossef, who is also a founder and spiritual leader of the religious Shas party (Israel's third largest political party) openly advocates a 'Final Solution' to annihilate the Palestinians? Speaking at the widely broadcast sermon marking the last Passover, he declared of the Palestinians: "The Lord shall return their deeds on their own heads, waste their seed and exterminate them, devastate them and vanish them from this world. It is forbidden to be merciful to them. You must send missiles to them and annihilate them. They are evil and damnable."

21. Did you know that Palestinian refugees make up the largest portion of the refugee population in the world?

22. Did you know that Palestinian Christians are considered the "living stones" of Christianity because they are the direct descendants of the disciples of Jesus Christ? And the Palestinian Christians stand united with their Muslim brethren in the struggle against the Israeli occupation.

23. Did you know that despite a ban on torture by Israel's High Court of Justice, torture has continued unabated by Shin Bet interrogators on Palestinian prisoners?

24. Did you know that despite every Israeli attempt to disrupt Palestinian education, Palestinians have the highest ratio of PhDs per capita in the world?

25. Did you know that the right of self-determination is guaranteed to every human being under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights [December, 1948], yet Palestinians were/are expected to negotiate for this right under the Oslo Accords?

26. Did you know that despite what is widely perpetuated and written in the history books that the Arabs attacked Israel in the 1967 war, it was Israel who attacked the Arab countries first, capturing Jerusalem and the West Bank, and called the attack a pre-emptive strike?

27. Did you know that, as an occupying power, Israel has a particular responsibility under the Geneva Conventions to protect Palestinian civilians?

28. Did you know that, despite Ariel Sharon's public call for a unilateral ceasefire, Israeli soldiers have not stopped shooting, killing or bulldozing Palestinian homes? The most recent example of this is the murder of three innocent women who were shot by an Israeli tank as they sat in their tent!

29. Did you know that the Zionists have been trying to destroy Masjid al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock for the last 50 years by digging underground tunnels beneath the sites to weaken its foundation causing it to collapse?

30) Nelson Mandela called the Israeli government an apartheid regime, just like South Africa used to be.

Did you get this Islamic Propaganda from Muhammad Atta's suitcase? You say Palestinian Christians are descendants of Jesus. Idiot, Jesus was a Jew. The Palestinian Christians became Christian from the Crusaders. The Crusaders converted them. There were no Arab Christians before the Crusaders took over parts of the Mideast.

Facts

07.06.2002 08:13

I am confused by the pride the Arabs take in being called Palestinian. Palestine was a name given by Europeans (Romans) to a country they captured from Jews in 70AD and colonized with Europeans, while Arabs were still in the Arabian Peninsula. The Romans named the land after the Philistines, not the Palestinians. The Philistines were also a European people, who came to Israel from where Greece is today in ancient times.

The Real history is, that until the defeat of the Ottoman Turkish Empire in World War I, there was no such geopolitical entity called Palestine, no Arab state ever lived on this soil, and no National claim was ever made to that Country by any group, other than the Jews! Between the expulsion of the Jews, from their Land by the Roman Empire in 70Ad, to the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in 1917, by the British Army. Only Empires controlled the land. There was never in history a state called Palestine. The Palestinians are not a biblical people. They came from the surrounding Arab countries in the late 1800s. Only the Israel had a state there. Until the 1960's, ALL ARABS refered to this area, as a province of Greater Syria. If you claim that the "Palestinians" are a "People" and Israel is their land, then tell me this: who was the first "king" or "president" or "dictator" of Arab Palestine?? (If you say Arafat, then you admit that their history is very short). What was their national anthem? What was their national flower? You cannot answer these, because THERE NEVER WAS SUCH A THING AS A PALESTINIAN ARAB NATION. It is a hoax that has been promulgated since 1964 as a propaganda device.

The name "Palestine" was the name the conquering Romans gave the ancient Land of Israel, so as to obliterate the JEWISH presence in Israel! The Palestinians have nothing to do with the name Palestine. The real Palestinians were the ancient Philistines. The Philistines were not Arabs or Muslims and were not descendants of Ishmael. The Philistines were Israels ancient enemy in biblical times. They came to Israel from where Greece is today in biblical times. After the Romans defeated Israel in 70Ad. The Romans changed the name from Israel to Philistine.

The Romans also renamed Judea and Samaria (West Bank today) to Palestina. The Palestinians are really Egyptians and Syrians. 95 percent of the Palestinians in Israel today, came from Egypt and Syria in the late 1800s. Before 1948, Palestinians referred to themselves as greater Syrian Arabs. The Palestinians never held sovereignty over any land before 1948. To make it very simple, Please tell me one Palestinian President before 1948. You cant, because there is no such thing as a Palestinian people. There really other Arabs from Egypt and Syria.

Despite being conquered and controlled by the Romans, Crusaders, Turks and numerous others. Only TWO nations have ever existed there in the last 2,000 years. Who are they? Ancient "Israel" and Israel re- established in 1948! To the Arab people as a whole no such entity as "Palestine" ever existed in history. There was certainly never an ancient Palestinian Arab nation! Archeologists to this day, continue to dig up artifacts with Hebrew writing, not some fictitious "Palestinian" or even Arabic text! So when the Arabs speak of an historical "Palestinian people," this is a lie and they know it!

The Land of Israel was virtually uninhabited when the Jews began their return ["Zionist Movement"] Jerusalem was never in history an Arab capital. There is not one single mention of Jerusalem in the Koran. Only the Jews have had Jerusalem as there capital. David and Solomon built up Jerusalem. From 1948 to 1967, when the Arabs occupied Israeli East Jerusalem, the Arabs kicked out all the Jews from East Jerusalem, burned 58 temples, built bathrooms next the to wailing Wall and prevented Jews from Praying at the Wailing Wall. Only when Israel liberated Jerusalem in 1967, was Jerusalem a free city. And most importantly, that Muhammad flew from Heaven from the temple mount. This is the biggest lie in history.

It was Hajj Amin Al Husseini, the Arab Nazi leader of the 1920s, who made this lie up. Husseini made this lie up, so Arabs would riot against Jews. And we all know, the Arabs massacred the Jews in Hebron in 1929 and 1936. In the late 1800s, Mark Twain visted the Levant and called it a Deserted piece of land. The vast majority of Arabs came to Israel AFTER these Zionists pioneers began to rebuild the land and thereby creating the economic opportunities and medical availabilities, which attracted Arabs from both surrounding territories and far-away Arab lands! Every inch of land Jews lived in prior to 1948, was bought legally at high prices in a non existent country Terrorism, slaughter, rape and carnage by the Arabs against the Jews began as soon as the Jews began to resettle the barren land and largely uninhabited lands, continued through the British Mandatory period after World War I.

First the Arabs massacred all the Jews in Hebron in 1929 and 1936. Then In WW2, The Palestinian leader, Hajj Amin Al Husseini went to Berlin in 1941, to make a deal with Hitler. This was when the Nazis were winning the war. Hitler and Husseini agreed, when the Nazis defeat the British in the middle East. The Arabs and Nazis will work together to murder all the Jews in the middle East. Husseini also organized two divisions of Bosnian Moslems - incorporated in the S.S. The most infamous murderers. These Bosnian Moslem SS soldiers not only burned Serbian villages, churches with the people to the ground, but also murdered most of the Bosnian Jews, 90% of them.

On March 1rst 1944, Husseini said in a broadcast from Berlin: "Arabs Rise as one and fight for your sacred rights. Kill the Jews wherever you find them. This pleases God, history, and religion. This saves your honor." It was the Arab aggression Against Israel in 48, which started the war. The Arabs were so confident, they would kill all the Jews in 48. Instead, Israel foiled the Arabs aggression. After the Arabs attacked Israel in 48, the Arab League Secretary General, Azzam Pasha said, "This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the massacres of the Crusades".

The Palestinian leader, Haj Amin Al Husseini stated, "I declare a holy war, my Moslem brothers! Murder the Jews! Murder them all!" The armies of lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq invaded the tiny new country with the declared intent of destroying it. Its well known, it was the surrounding Arab countries, that Told the Arab population to leave there Holmes. The Arab Armies requested and ordered, that the Arab population leave there holmes to clear the Area, so that the Arab armies could kill the Jews. And if you dont believe the Arab countries told the Palestinians to leave there holmes.

Let me quote the Arabs in there own words. JORDAN DAILY NEWSPAPER "FALASTIN". 19th February 1949. The Arab states which had encouraged the Palestine Arabs to leave their homes, in order to be out of the way of the Arab invasion armies. Tell me what happened to the Palestinians in Kuwait and Libya. Go look at Saudi Arabia who kicked out 500,000 Yemenites in 1991 All Israel did in 1948, is stop Arabs from killing all Jews. How about some more Arab statements, How about some more Arab statements. Azzam Pasha regarding the 1 million Jews in the Arab countries. Assam in May 1948 said "There are over one million Jews in the Arab Lands. Their lives will be forfeit as well when we conquer the Jews. The Real ethnic cleasing happened, when the Arabs kicked out 800,000 Jews from the Arab countries in 48. Israel took in every single of those 800,000 Jewish Refugees, while the Arabs with 22 countries, refuse to take in any of the Refugees they created, when they attacked Israel in 48.

The reason the Arab countries dont take in these Refugees, is because they want to use them, for some kind of sick western media propangada. Did you know, that Hajj Amin Al Husseini dispatched a terrorist squad led by Hassan Ali Salameh to Israel during the second World War, with the object of poisoning Lake Kinneret and other water sources to kill all Israeli Jews? They were discovered by the British and prevented from carrying out their murderous Deed. his is well documented in the book "The quest for the Red Prince. Right now as we Speak, Israel has 20 percent of the actual British Mandate borders of 1917. The Arabs have 80 percent. Jordan was part of the British Mandate. The British created Jordan and named the country after the Jordan River in 1922.

The 67 war was caused by Egypt. The agreement ending the Suez War of 1956, stated that blocking the Gulf of Eilat would be an act of war. On May 23-24, Nasser announced the closure to Israeli shipping of the Strait of Tiran at the entrance to the Gulf of Aqaba, a measure that Israel immediately declared to be an act of war. Egypt blockaded Israel's Gulf of Aquba and Eilat, thereby starting the Six-Day War One week before the 67 war, Egyptian radios had very profound announcements. They went like this. "Itba-h al Yahood " = "Slaughter the Jews"

Joe,
Your title of liar is a bit strong, what you seem to be refering to is a mistake, and a historical one at that. Can you refute any of the other claims, I would be interested in a level and rational debate on the subject. But I fear that there is a strong case for Jewish people abusing the power invested in them.

As far as I'm aware the first group of people attacked by the crusaders were christian Arabs, and if Judaism has it's home in the middle east what makes you think that Jesus was not a Jewish Arab?

sowing seeds of lies, half truths and untruths. where do i begin? ill take three or four of the points and examine them, im paying per minute here otherewise i would do all thirty.

"1. Did you know that non-Jewish Israelis cannot buy or lease land in Israel? A Jew from any country in the world is guaranteed citizenship in Israel, while the Palestinians who have been there for centuries are oppressed and persecuted. "

No, I didn't know that. I know non-Jewish Israelis who live in Israel, and are citizens of Israel, so maybe you are talking out your arse.

"2.Did you know that instead of sewing an insignia on clothing to distinguish race (like the Germans did to the Jews before WW2), Palestinian license plates in Israel are color coded to distinguish Jews from non-Jews? "

Did you know that instead of sowing an insignia on clothing to distinguish nationality, the European Union forces French cars to have an 'F' on them. I can't believe this blatant discrimination. Shit! Look! We're being forced to look different by having 'GB' on our cars. No fucking way!! Because Palestinian cars and their license plates are controlled by their own Palestinian Authority, maybe theres a reason why they arent identical to ilcense plates issued in Israel. Maybe its because they are a different country, or so they say. Maybe its got nothing to do with race because Israeli Muslim and Israeli Christian cars look just the same as Israeli Jewish cars. I can't believe *this* is what you have to sink to to find bad things about Israel.

"5.Did you know that the United States awards Israel $5 billion in aid each year from American tax dollars?"

I'm sure the propoganda used to be $3 billion. But anyway. So what? How much do Jordan and Egypt get in aid from the US? Egypt gets $655 million dollars in humanitarian aid (including $25 million to promote democracy. wots that about?). It also gets $1.3 billion dollars in military aid from the US aid budget of $14 billion. (wait! could this make point number six untrue? nah! never!). The fiscal year 2003 budget proposes $448 million in U.S. aid to Jordan, up from $225 million the previous year. About $200 million of this would go to military assistance. Wait a minute! Did you know that this also comes from American tax dollars? Did you know... what were you trying to prove? I don't think that a country gets military aid makes it an evil country. Unless its Israel, according to you.

"8. Did you know that the U.S. administration has notified Congress on numerous occasions that Israel has violated the rules on how US-supplied weapons are used? (In 1978, 1979 and 1982 during fighting in Lebanon, and once after Israel's bombing of an Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981.)"

Right. The world would be a much better place today if Iraq had full nuclear capabilities. Silly Israelis.

"20. Did you know that the former chief rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Ovadia Yossef, who is also a founder and spiritual leader of the religious Shas party (Israel's third largest political party) openly advocates blah blah blah, ect."

Did you know that Ovadiah Yosef is a senile git? Did you know that he has no power in government? Did you know that he calls Arabs snakes, but he also calls European Jews sinners, and non-religious Jews scum? Did you know that no one takes any notice of him anymore, no one except people like you looking for trouble? Did you know that you would find it a lot easier to find hate and incitement in the PA religious authorities? But of course, the poor palestinians, who cares if they kill Jews, the poor dears.

"24. Did you know that despite every Israeli attempt to disrupt Palestinian education, Palestinians have the highest ratio of PhDs per capita in the world? "

So? What's this trying to prove? So its not illiterate youths blowing themselves up, its proffessors with Ph.Ds in explosives. That makes me feel much better. You know what? Maybe in light of this incredible news Israel will go and oppress a population with less Ph.Ds. Thank you.

"26. Did you know that despite what is widely perpetuated and written in the history books that the Arabs attacked Israel in the 1967 war, it was Israel who attacked the Arab countries first, capturing Jerusalem and the West Bank, and called the attack a pre-emptive strike? "

Which history books are you reading, mate? Its always been Israel which started the war proper, but Israel only entered the West Bank after repeated Jordanian artillery fire and ground movements across the previous armistice lines; additionally, Iraqi forces crossed Jordanian territory and were poised to enter the West Bank. Under such circumstances, even the UN rejected Soviet efforts to have Israel branded as the aggressor in the Six-Day War.

I found the article interesting if not always accurate. Positive, constructive criticism is good to help people make up their own minds. What pisses me off is Josh's arrogance, childish insults and spouting out of pro-Zionist propaganda. Hopefully next time Josh can come up with some well thought out, intelligent criticism. Josh's arguments were not believable and didn't prove the case against any of the points.
I am interested to here positive criticism of both the Israeli and Palestian states and more positive info on the co-operation of grassroot Israeli and Palestinian groups.

Your comments belong to the fabricated history which can be easily found at zionazi websites.

While it is true that the name "filistine" (men from the sea) was given to the inhabitants of the Land of Canaan, and it is also true that "men from the sea" arrived in Canaan around 1800 before Christ, from Crete, fact is that Palestinian (their ancestors), have been living in the Land of Canaan for the last 300 hundred million years, as proved carbon dated figurines recently discovered.

These men from the sea, merged with the autoctonous population. There have been other invaders, earlier and later.

One of these invaders was Abraham, from UR, current Iraq, if Bible is taken into account, having it crystal clear that it is NOT a reliable historical source, who is said to arrive in Ppalestine by 1300 or 1200 before Christ.

This iraquian have fighted the indigenous canaainites, and ruled for 77 years. Just 77 years. After Solomon's death, infight almost destroyed them. The remaining iraquian (jews is an utter nonsense aimed at labelling an ethnicity, where there is only people saring the same religious beliefs), were expelled in the forthcoming decades.

The so called jewish kingdom in Palestine, is just another
fabricated zionist myth.

However, for any reasonable mind, it's ludicrous to accept a claim of a "promise" done by a vengenful and bloodthirsty god called yaveh, to a "choosen people" (nazi-hitlerians alsos described themselves as chosen and special). Self apointing a god as real-stare agent is laughable.

The concept of nation and state is modern, mostly from the XIX and XX centuries. So this pattern does not apply to refer to former times.

Grand Mufty was a nazi ally, that's right. A good zionazi propagandist never fails to mention it!. LOL.

But... rarely mentions that so were the jew elites of the times, collaborating even in the extermination fields. This is well documented.

In addition, many jews fighted in the nazi army. See below:

Hitler's Jewish Soldiers
The Untold Story of Nazi Racial Laws and Men of Jewish Descent in the German Military
By Bryan Mark Rigg
2-17-02

May 2002 496 pages,
95 photographs,
6 x 9 Modern War Studies Cloth ISBN 0-7006-1178-9, $29.95
To be featured on NBC-TV's Dateline in June 2002

On the murderous road to "racial purity" Hitler encountered unexpected detours, largely due to his own crazed views and inconsistent policies regarding Jewish identity. After centuries of Jewish assimilation and intermarriage in German society, he discovered that eliminating Jews from the rest of the population was more difficult than he'd anticipated.

As Bryan Mark Rigg shows in this provocative new study, nowhere was that heinous process more fraught with contradiction and confusion than in the German military.
Contrary to conventional views, Rigg reveals that a startlingly large number of German military men were classified by the Nazis as Jews or "partial-Jews" (Mischlinge), in the wake of racial laws first enacted in the mid-1930s.

Rigg demonstrates that the actual number was much higher than previously thought--perhaps as many as 150,000 men, including decorated veterans and high-ranking officers, even generals and admirals.

As Rigg fully documents for the first time, a great many of these men did not even consider themselves Jewish and had embraced the military as a way of life and as devoted patriots eager to serve a revived German nation.

In turn, they had been embraced by the Wehrmacht, which prior to Hitler had given little thought to the "race" of these men but which was now forced to look deeply into the ancestry of its soldiers.

The process of investigation and removal, however, was marred by a highly inconsistent application of Nazi law. Numerous "exemptions" were made in order to allow a soldier to stay within the ranks or to spare a soldier's parent, spouse, or other relative from incarceration or far worse. (Hitler's own signature can be found on many of these "exemption" orders.)

But as the war dragged on, Nazi politics came to trump military logic, even in the face of the Wehrmacht's growing manpower needs, closing legal loopholes and making it virtually impossible for these soldiers to escape the fate of millions of other victims of the Third Reich.

Based on a deep and wide-ranging research in archival and secondary sources, as well as extensive interviews with more than four hundred Mischlinge and their relatives, Rigg's study breaks truly new ground in a crowded field and shows from yet another angle the extremely flawed, dishonest, demeaning, and tragic essence of Hitler's rule.

Side and front photographs of "half-Jew" Anton Mayer, similar to those that often accompanied a Mischling's application for exemption. To see more photographs from the book, click here "Through videotaped interviews, painstaking attention to personnel files, and banal documents not normally consulted by historians, and spurred by a keen sense of personal mission, Rigg has turned up an unexplored and confounding chapter in the history of the Holocaust.

The extent of his findings has surprised scholars."--Warren Hoge, New York Times "The revelation that Germans of Jewish blood, knowing the Nazi regime for what it was, served Hitler as uniformed members of his armed forces must come as a profound shock. It will surprise even professional historians of the Nazi years." --John Keegan, author of The Face of Battle and The Second World War "Startling and unexpected, Rigg's study conclusively demonstrates the degree of flexibility in German policy toward the Mischlinge, the extent of Hitler's involvement, and, most importantly, that not all who served in the armed forces were anti-Semitic, even as their service aided the killing process."--Michael Berenbaum, author of The World Must Know: The History of the Holocaust "Rigg's extensive knowledge and the preliminary conclusions drawn from his research impressed me greatly. I firmly believe that his in-depth treatment of the subject of German soldiers of Jewish descent in the Wehrmacht will lead to new perspectives on this portion of 20th century German military history."--Helmut Schmidt, Former Chancellor of Germany "An impressively researched work with important implications for hotly debated questions. Rigg tells some exquisitely poignant stories of individual human experiences that complicate our picture of state and society in the Third Reich."--Nathan A. Stoltzfus, Florida State University, author of Resistance of the Heart: Intermarriage and the Rosenstrasse Protest in Nazi Germany "An impressive work filled with interesting stories. . . .

By helping us better understand Nazi racial policy at the margins--i.e., its impact on certain members of the German military--Rigg's study clarifies the central problems of Nazi Jewish policies overall."--Norman Naimark, Stanford University, author of Fires of Hatred: Ethnic Cleansing in Twentieth-Century Europe "An illuminating and provocative study that merits a wide readership and is sure to be much discussed."--Dennis E. Showalter, Colorado College, author of Tannenberg: Clash of Empires "An outstanding job of research and analysis.

Rigg's book will add a great deal to our understanding of the German military, of the place of Jews and people of Jewish descent in the Nazi state, and of the Holocaust.
It forces us to deal with the full, complex range of possible actions and reactions by individuals caught up in the Nazi system."--Geoffrey P. Megargee, author of Inside Hitler's High Command "With the skill of a master detective, Bryan Rigg reveals the surprising and largely unknown story of Germans of Jewish origins in the Nazi military.

His work contributes to our understanding of the complexity of faith and identity in the Third Reich."--Paula E. Hyman, Yale University, author of Gender and Assimilation in Modern Jewish History and The Jews of Modern France "A major piece of scholarship which traces the peculiar twists and turns of Nazi racial policy toward men in the Wehrmacht, often in the highest ranks, who had partly Jewish backgrounds. Rigg has uncovered personal stories and private archives which literally nobody knew existed.

His book will be an important contribution to German history."--Jonathan Steinberg, University of Pennsylvania, author of All or Nothing: The Axis and the Holocaust 1941-1943 "An original, groundbreaking, and significant contribution to the history of the Wehrmacht and Nazi Germany."--James S. Corum, School of Advanced Air Power Studies, author of The Roots of Blitzkrieg and The Luftwaffe "Rigg's work has discovered new academic territory."--Manfred Messerschmidt, Freiburg University, author of Die Wehrmacht im NS-Staat (The Wehrmacht in the Nazi State) BRYAN MARK RIGG received his B.A. with honors in history from Yale University in 1996. Yale awarded him the Henry Fellowship for graduate study at Cambridge University, where he received his M.A. in 1997 and Ph.D. in 2002. Currently Professor of History at American Military University, he has served as a volunteer in the Israeli Army and as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.

His research for this book has been featured in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and London Daily Telegraph.
The thousands of pages of documents and oral testimonies (8mm and VHS video) the author collected for this study have been purchased by the National Military Archive of Germany.

The Bryan Mark Rigg Collection is housed in the Bundesarchiv-Militrarchiv in Freiburg, Germany.

Your rebuttal seems kind of a bit hysterical, huh?.

First off, I would suggest you to get facts straight, rather than demagogically responding.

Rebutting the alluded "plates thing" by mentioning the GB or F labels from other cars is insulting the reader's intelligence.

Apartheidist practices in Israel DO exist, but what is worst, are they contemplated under the jew laws.

There paragraphs below are -part- of an interview to a longtime analyst and activist around Middle East issues, who is a jew.

Today there are at least 20 laws that specifically provide unequal rights and obligations based on what the Israelis call nationality, which in Israel is defined on the basis of religion.

Israelis must carry a card which identifies them as either a Jew, a Muslim, or a Christian. All non-Jews are second class citizens. The Israeli Supreme Court has dismissed virtually all cases which dealt with equal rights for Arab citizens.

If you are a Jew, you have exclusive use of land, privileged access to private and public employment, special educational loans, home mortgages, preferences for admission to universities, and many other things.

Many other special privileges are reserved for those who have served in the Israeli military. And military service is compulsory for all Jews (male and female), except for the ultra-Orthodox who get the same privileges as other Jews, but excludes Palestinians, who do not.

Over 80 percent of the land within Israel that was once owned by Palestinians has been confiscated. All told, 93 percent of Israel's land can only be leased or owned by Jews or Jewish agencies.

There are also vast disparities between Arab towns and Jewish towns in government spending on schools, medical systems, roads and electricity, clean water, and social services.

Unlike any other country in the world, Israel does not define itself as a state of its residents, or even a state of its citizens, but as a state of all the Jews in the world.

Jews from anywhere in the world, like me, can travel to Israel, declare citizenship, and be granted all the privileges of being Jewish that are denied to Palestinians who have lived in the area for hundreds of years.

And there are even more complexities. Within Israel there are really four levels of citizenship, the first three being various levels of Jewish participation in Israeli society, which are thoroughly racialized. At the top of the pyramid are the Ashkenazi, the white European Jews. At the level of power the huge contingent of recent Russian immigrants--now about 20 percent of Israeli Jews--are being assimilated into the European-Ashkenazi sector, though they are retaining a very distinct cultural identity.

The next level down, which is now probably the largest component of the Jewish population, is the Mizrachi or Sephardic Jews, who are from the Arab countries. At the bottom of the Jewish pyramid are the Ethiopian Jews, who are black. You can go into the poorest parts of Jewish West Jerusalem and find that it's predominantly Ethiopian.

This social and economic stratification took shape throughout the last 50 years as different groups of Jews from different part of the world came, for very different reasons, to Israel. So while the divisions reflected national origins, they play out in a profoundly racialized way.

The Yemeni Jews in particular faced extraordinary discrimination. They were transported more or less involuntarily from Yemen to Israel. On arrival they were held in primitive camps, and many Yemeni babies were stolen from their mothers and given for adoption to Ashkenazi families. In the early 1990s a high-profile campaign began to try to reunite some of those shattered families.

Beneath all these layers of Jews come the Palestinian citizens.

A rigid hierarchy, highly racialized both within and between religious or national groups, orchestrates Israeli social life.

Much of it is legally enforced. The most significant difference between this scenario and other similar ones is in the world's perception of the Israeli reality. For the overwhelming majority of the world's population, South Africa was always considered a pariah state. But Israel is not in that position. Israel is given a pass, if you will, on the question of racism.

There are sound studies re US aid to Israel, which provide detailed info.

For instance, you want to read this article:
 http://www.washington-report.org/backissues/0999/9909045.html

Benefits to Israel of U.S. Aid Since 1949
(As of Oct. 31, 1999)
Foreign Aid Grants and Loans $80,097,600,000
Other U.S. Aid (12.2 % of Foreign Aid) 9,771,907,000
Interest to Israel from Advanced Pymts. 1,947,000,000
Grand Total $91,816,507,200
Total Benefits per Israeli $15,052

US gives each israelian far more than she gives to an US citizen, whose social benefits and welfare are ridiculous, compared to the UE standards.

Pointing fingers at US aid to Egipt and Jordan does not
diminish the above data, as you intend to show. It's rather the other way around, since this aid purpose is very much the same.

Did you know that...

10.10.2003 01:14

Did you know that to aim all of your hate and criticism at the only island of Democracy in the entire Middle East, the country with the 2nd best human rights record in the Middle East and the West's most trusting and trustworthy ally in the Middle East is completly assenine and frivolous? Why don't you come up with a list of these supposed dozens of UN Resolutions, because I've listened to NPR and BBC, both paragons of liberal/left media for a good 7 years of my life and I HAVEN'T heard ONE!
